Unpopular Opinion

I agree 100%.

You need a left footer at LB for balance especially when we always play a right footer at LW.

If there’s a good deal to be had on left footed LB this summer we should consider it.

I don't think it's a really controversial view. Shaw is first-choice LB, Williams good cover for both sides and one for the future.

My "unpopular opinion" is more of a prediction: long-term, we are going to struggle to get Bruno and Pogba in the same side.

totally agree

assists dont bother me, because you can only claim it if the guy in the box sticks it away.

his link up play in and around the box is actually pretty decent, and what he does give us is a quick transition from front to back.

like you say, defensively he is solid too.

i actually really like him in a back three and when he has played there this season he has done very well indeed

Shaw had built up a decent understanding with Rashford prior to his injury, he himself is struggling at the moment, nothing seems to be happening for him

Agree but also really enjoying Brandon at the mo. Rusty at times but looks like that cant you just wana punch in the face and hes not scared to get involved.

My unpopular decision would be to sell Bruno. All he does is dive.

He's better driving forwards through the centre than out wide.

Luke Shaw has a total of six assists in his entire Premier League career, spanning 96 games.

Here’s mine:

On balance, across their attributes, Lindelof is a far better player than Bailly.

I don’t think it’s that unpopular an opinion.

We do need a new left back, though. Regardless of Shaw’s attacking shortcomings, he just cannot be relied on to stay fit throughout the season.

Maguire, Lindelof and AWB all have their shortcomings as well. But staying fit isn’t one of them. Our defence has benefited a lot this season from having all three playing playing together regularly in the premier league. It’d be even better had Shaw been available for a similar amount of games. But he never is.

If we're giving unpopular opinions, I wouldn't start Rashford in the semi or final (if we get there).

My unpopular opinions:

-Rashford isn't going to be as good as some think

-Ole isn't good tactically (especially in-game management). Needs a better assistant

-We rely on playing our best team and their quality to win games (not tactics). The fringe players don't know what to do, and would probably play better in teams with a proper pattern.

Shaw is fantastic and very much missed

His injury record sucks but we should have a better backup than williams who is still too raw at his age

Shaw is decent, tidy in possession, solid defensively and you know what you're going to get from him.

Can't keep fit though, and we need more than what he and AWB offer on the flanks.

We should have a better first choice left back than Shaw. Doesn’t even need to be a massive upgrade, one that can play 30+ premier league games would suffice.

Our full backs need to do far more in general to create chances to get penalties. We have been relying far too much on our forwards to come up with bits of creativity to win penalties. We could do with a few more goals from our defenders in general. So a good tactic to address this is to let them take the pens. Good teams get goals from all over the team.

And there is a lot valid reason that it's unpopular

Look at our style of football now to when Ole started, and that'll be enough to squash the opinion he relies on players.

I think a fit Shaw is good enough and we do miss him. But someone said he'd played 96 PL games. That just isn't enough in 6 years. Even though he's been less injury prone in the last couple of years, it's all relative and he's yet to play 30 PL games in a season for us

I agree we've missed Shaw.

Talking of unpopular opinions and missing people. I quite miss Robb. Does anyone else...

You need a right back more than you need a left back.

AWB is too limited for a top side.

And only 86 of those are from the start. He’s the left footed Jones. He’ll probably spend nine years at the club for no apparent reason either.

It was a serious leg break that did for him.
