Forgot about him
Sergei Rebrov was poor also
Joelinton has to be in consideration
Worst signing...Sanchez.
Worst player....Bogarde.
Torres to CFC
Carroll to Liverpool
Alexis to Utd
Falcao
Ndombele - has he even had a single good game?
Keita
Kim Kallstrom has got to be one of our worst ever
i'd be wary of simply naming the most recent high profile flop, because all the figures involved will be higher because of simple football inflation.
adjusting for that i'd say shevchenko has the strongest claim, a transfer fee of over £100m in today's money, wages of c. £400k (today's money), 2 years at chelsea, 23 goals, 1 league cup, and leaves on a free.
honourable mentions for torres and tomas brolin.
Not really an expensive flop but didn't Arsenal discover some kind of broken back or major back problem in Kallstroms medical, but still signed him on loan, then he spent the entire loan pretty much injured with said problem.
Probably lots of awful signings like that, the big money ones will go down as the worst but at least there was some possibility they could have gone brilliantly well too
Sanchez.
Horrible, horrible, horrible, horrible. Just horrible.
Mangala has to be up there.
Probably not big wages but 40m for a CB I’d never even heard of and then he barely played a game at City before Pep got rid of him.
I'd say Sanchez has to be, when you consider the damage he did and continues to do to our wage structure too. His performances on the pitch were also wretched, but that's the least of it
