Liverpool have taken a lot of drubbings in big games, from recent memory.

Chelsea 4 Liverpool 0
Liverpool 0 Real Madrid 3
Man City 5 Liverpool 0
Man City 4 Liverpool 0
Man United 4 Liverpool 0

I think where it's going to fall apart for you lot this season is the arrogance. Since you won the title, there seems to be an arrogance amongst Klopp and the players. They think they can turn up in 1st gear and win, but the result yesterday goes against it. I called it earlier, but by mid-December Liverpool won't be able to retain their crown.

Yeah I'm still baffled. Just need to ensure it's a one off.

You think we'll be 60 points off the top by mid December?

I love this

I've not seen Villa given much credit btw. I thought they were very good.

Agreed - although “at home” played very well on the break

But like our result yesterday, not much credit given, just how poor Man U were 👍

They were very good mate but cmon, it was 7-2. We have been beaten by teams in the past who were very good on the day but 7-2 is taking the biscuit

Yep. I thought they'd done their home work and worked hard with no little skill.

Three deflections and yet another Adrian howler in there but we were poor for sure.

Yes - 3 deflections was unfortunate, just the rub of the green I guess. Were the shots on target anyways? Still think Villa would’ve won 👍👍

Last night by far as it came as a massive shock to see a team who had like 25% possession and yet everytime they attacked it felt like we were opening the gate and letting them have free access.

I said at half time to those I watched the game with that I would be very surprised if Fabinho didn't go into a back three and TAA and Robertson given license to get forward, with Fabinho moving into midfield when we're on the ball and dropping into defence when they had one of their many dangerous counter attacks. I couldn't understand why that decision wasn't taken but having read Klopp's comments, he felt if we just improved a little at both ends we could get a result. I couldn't see it, considering I think the players were up against it with their system clearly taking ours apart, at ease, everytime they got the ball.

I think we’ve come close to results like that in the past few years tbh we’ve just had the rub of the green, last night we had none of it andit could have been even more too.

Easy to forget taa n gomez r only 21 n 23 too tbf.

Did not see that coming.

Saw parts of the Chelsea and Arsenal games and you were excellent.

There have been cracks appearing especially since the Watford game last season.

Yes but people are talking as if players were making individual errors and every player was rubbish. You can't do anything about three deflected goals of course but their system completely took advantage of ours, repeatedly. They played the same ball everytime, behind the highline and were able to stay inside and use their pace to get onto it. I don't think the players stood a chance, regardless of individual performances. We had the warning against Leeds when they did the same.

I've only watched highlights from last night's game, but one thing that caught my eye was that when Salah pulled it back to 2-1 there was no celebration whatsoever.

It's pretty odd that when a team gets back into a game when there's so much time left on the clock, there's no kind of rallying around the scorer or collective enthusiasm of some sort.

I don't know whether there's some other explanation for it, but there was something about it that just didn't seem quite right.

we've been pretty inconsistent in terms of performances n results since restart after lockdown thats for sure.

Also this high line tactic is looking dodgy, especially when even if its offside aslong as they dont score it wont be flagged as offside, so if they get a corner or throw in they seem to be given and play goes on. And we conceded from one last night without offside being reviewed?

Either way even without this it does look very suspect, just defend, no need to take that risk. Also TAA and Gomez need some coaching, doing the basics wrong, you dont allow players to cut inside on their strong foot, ffs they train against salah n mane every day wtf are they doing?

Take away 3 lucky deflections it's still 4 - 2. I get that the media major focus is going to be on Liverpools historical loss. I couldn't give a t 0 5s about media bias. Klopp and his players gave us classy props after. As shocking as Liverpool were, we were fantastic. Going after them from the off and never letting up. It could've easily been 10 - 2.

think teams know our high line now as they do our high line def set pieces everyone uses a deep runner for them now too. and our front press is key when playing that high line, no pressure on the ball players at this level will find the pass in behind everytime no problem. Time to mix it up surely.

posted on 5/10/20

and our press from the front didnt help the high line at all vs villa. Wijnaldum another performance where he looks like he'd rather be somewhere else.

anyway, we will get battered by everton too playing like that, they will dominate that midfield if we're forced to go with that again.

As bad as we were id be amazed if we churn out a performance like that again over the next few. This is still a fantastic team. One which had an absolute brainfart last night.

posted on 5/10/20

worse thing about it is if there wasnt a target on our back cos of being champions there is now. Theyve just made their own job much harder.

Could use it as a positive though, if we expect teams to be fired up and attack more vs us.
