wow cant believe I was co-wumming on this thread with you, only to then chuck me under the bus
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No wumming from me, genuinely. Keita is awful. Would honestly prefer Elneny over him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What do you think elneny is better at
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Just the simple ability to play football and keep his discipline in his role.

For some reason Keita thinks he's on Yaya Toure or Essiens level.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I mean Elneny has a higher pass completion rate than Keita and he turns it over way less but keita is also offering more on the ball than elneny

More passes into the final third per 90
Progresses the ball further per 90
More shot creating actions from open play per 90
Double the expected assists per 90
About 4 times as many successful dribbles per 90

Nope. Keita isn't very good. Which part of that are you struggling to understand?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why on earth you think Keita is worse than El Neny. One plays for the champions, the other in the Europa League.

Debate over.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh, the Benjamin Mendy/ John O'Shea argument. <insert average player>》has won the <insert trophy> and therefore is better than your entire squad.

Fair enough. Junichi Inamoto is better than Steven Gerrard, yeh MATE?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well no because Keita was actually an important part of the side that won the PL. And Klopp clearly thinks the same hence he starts every week.

Should I trust a professional or somebody with BO on an anonymous forum...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well actually he wasn't. The very point of signing Thiago was to replace Keita.

Only reason Keita might stick around is if Barca reignite interest in Wijnaldum.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But I thought he'd be sold in January, that's what you said.

Still deflecting?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You're either deliberately being obtuse or just naturally a bit slow.

Keita is an expensive squad player. Nothing more. Someone on that wages either needs to break in the first team or they'll be ushered away.

My guess, Keita will be sold UNLESS someone comes in for Wijnaldum, who's clearly the better midfielder. Even then, he's had plenty of time to adapt and simply hasn't been able to.

I wouldn't say Wijanldum is "clearly" the better player as they are different midfielders entirely. But with the price tag difference I can see why Keita is branded as a "flop" even though he isn't. You pay what clubs want for the player that you want these days, that's how modern day successful teams operate.

When you look at the likes of Spurs and United this window who have tried to get a hard bargain for the players they want (Skriniar and Sancho in this case), it should just come down to, we've got the money these days, lets just pay what they want and get our player and move on. But they haven't and now they're both left with a position still to fill in their squads.

Back to Keita, I can't see him being sold this January, next summer or even January 2022 unless he gets really disrupted with injuries or better midfielders come in.

Fabinho, Thiago, Wijnaldum, Henderson. These are the main midfielders fighting for 3 spots.

You then have Minamino, Oxlade and Keita fighting for scraps.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Minamino is a forward, good try.

Fabinho will spend half the season at centre back.

So in reality it's 5 players going for 3 spots, with Ox potentially playing in attack too.

So basically a squad is what you're describing.

Oh dear does this muppet think that if he repeats this drivel for long enough it'll become true.

You're absolutely clueless about football.

Which part of that are you struggling to understand?
