It's because we all tend to choose songs associated with fun memories. Meaning most of it gets chosen from the summer and xmas top tens being played all over the gaff when people are out having a good time. People pick some of those type and the rest come from parent's, grandparent's or other family elder's musical tastes, because they give you warm fuzzy kid memories (assuming you have some).
