Mad decision

I believe they should just freeze it and if the offside is clear from the naked eye then go with that
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Or just draw the line from a part of the body that can play the ball like they're supposed to.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

You can play the ball from your upper arm now. The t-shirt line.

Not too unhappy with the offside decision as it always looked close to me but the decision not to red card pickford was just corrupt.

There wasn't a discussion or argument to be had even, it was just a straight and immediate red card.

Somebody at VAR needs sacking.

You were all celebrating VAR when Wolves were cheated twice against you last season.

Hypocrites.

They should just tell us that in line is now considered offside.

Because that’s what they’re rolling with

I'm guessing it is a slightly new interpretation now that the handball has has been updated. The upper arm (the t-shirt line) can now play the ball without it being handball and so comes into scope for offside. Last season both the van dijk and mane ones would probably have stood.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Possibly.

Yeah it looks it is the outside of his upper arm. As I said, last season that would have been onside (and I just checked the Van Dijk one and the line is to his arm too).

Getting robbed once in a game is hard enough but twice in the same game is really hard to take.

VAR is really ruining the game. It’s not the whole concept, it’s just the people operating it are absolute imbeciles, at least in this league.

If that's the case then fair enough I guess. Although the dotted line is diagonal but perhaps that is making up for the angle.

We’ve lost Alisson for a number of weeks. We lose VvD in the first 10 minutes. That having been said, even with Joe coming on, the team played well, they were light years away from the team at Villa. Each and every player was up for the battle.

The result, OK, honours even, but we payed the better football, and that for me is a big positive.

Whoever in the VAR cabin decided Sadio was offside for Jordan’s goal watched a different game to me.

Pickford? He was their MOTM. By the same token, he should have been shown Red for the tackle on VvD. Richarlson, for me, was a red card waiting to happen.

Onwards and upwards.

That isn't ridiculous. It is either offside or not. What is ridiculous is how Lamela got away with a clear red card and got someone else sent off doing his offence.

Yeah maybe. I was staring at the van dijk one for ages wondering why they were judging it from the outstretched arm before it clicked about the new handball law.

It was either both should have been off or neither. To send one off was ridiculous.

The game is more fair, the game is better for it, offside is offside... etc etc.

Enjoy your result, VAR fanboys.

Martial barely did anything though while Lamela hit Martial with force.

posted on 17/10/20

It was a straight line down from his shoulder that was off rather than the non scoring part of the arm.

It’s ridiculous and I hate it. That’s VAR though.

I agree. Both the offside decisions were correct, it woild have been unfair to award a penalty or the goal. Surprised that they didn't deem the pickford one to be a red though.

Isn't VARs fault that the players were offside under the current interpretation.

Of course it's fairer. Just because one decision may be wrong doesn't change that. Correct decisions increased last season, meaning errors decreased. Therefore it's a fact that it's fairer.

Can anyone please tell me how regardless of offside decisions, Pickford wasn't sent off?

BT seemed to suggest the VAR team didn't even check for a red card

nothing wrong with VAR, its the officials most have a problem with. Should we make their job harder again just because theyre still pretty useless? Atleast VAR does make it fairer overall no1 can argue against that.

Probably decided it wasn't a clear and obvious error.

All players know that if you raise your hand to strike someone’s face, it is an automatic Having said that I did no like Lamela’s behaviour at all

As for the decision to give Mane offiside, that was disgraceful in the extreme.

I’m talking about the offside.

2 Disgraceful Decisions

Pickford should have had a straight Red

And offside? Absolutely joke

Sorry, I’m a neutral, but Liverpool were totally robbed

VAR has killed the game I’m afraid
