To get penalties you have to show attacking intent and have touches in the opposition box. Neither of which we did

We had chances that just weren't taken and a referee not awarding a nailed on penalty you can't really blame the manager for that. The second half could of been better but sometimes it doesn't go your way.

All that happened in the 1st half

2nd half performance was pathetic. We needed a goal and didn’t try to score one. We showed more ambition against a much better Liverpool team (and we showed barely any ambition against them)

No ones happy with defeat just be objective in the assessment of the game. There was some good things that come out of it namely Saka's performance and some not so good things that is up to Arteta to fix which he will. Ozil is done at the club Arteta has been very fair and said if you do it my way then you will play if you don't then you won't play. Every player has been given a chance including Ozil.

Yeah the football has been very poor.

I just don't see how we are going to create consistent chances with this team.

Agree 100% with this. It’s a bit like the early days of Emery. I wouldn’t pay 15p to watch this brand of football let alone £15. It’s so dull and boring.

Yeah and 2 of those 3 points are for NOT PICKING OZIL!

There is no role for Ozil in this team and that's how it needs to stay. He's a and nobody wants him in the team alongside them. Get over it and move on.

Moving Ceballos further forward, with Xhaka and Partey behind him, will solve the attacking creativity problem just fine. I'm hoping that's what Arteta has planned, along with switching to 4 at the back. And the only reason that didn't happen today is he wanted to drill the team in practice more before matchday changes.

As usual Saka was good in attack but poor defensively. Him vs Mahrez was a mismatch that City could have exploited a lot more than they did. Stuff this WB business with him and just make him a winger. As a defender, it's only a matter of time until a drop in attacking form comes and he'll get found out defensively. Then the worse end of our fanbase will turn on him. This obsession with turning every winger into a WB, has ruined enough careers at AFC already and I'd hate to see his go the same way.

The only "Urgency" in this team is one to pass back into their own half or stupidly across the goal area. City players didn't even have to scramble to get back. We took so long to move the ball up the pitch, they were jogging casually and still had time to take some deep breaths.

We're not going to make CL football playing this way, with Leno in goal. Because we're not going to be able to score anywhere near enough goals to make up for the one's we concede. We could get away with it with Emi but Leno can't play in this system. He's not a good enough footballer for one and he knows it, that's why he panics trying to play out. Either the system or the keeper has to go or we might as well kiss CL football goodbye now.

The issue with Leno is that he can have amazing games where he saves everything like the cup game at Liverpool. But then you have games like today where he should of done better with the goal. It was the same story against Liverpool in the league he should of done better with the first goal in that game as well. Granted the sample size was much smaller but to me Martinez seemed more solid and consistent.

Lol and behold United get yet another dubious pen, while we get nothing . What will it take for us to get one in a big game. Broken bones

Leno cost us against Liverpool and City, partying weak shots into dangerous areas.

Not his fault we’ve lost those games but a top keeper doesn’t make those mistakes. Emi didn’t make those mistakes

Yes he is, stop angling for Ozil to be brought back, not gonna happen

We never bought him for the same reason we never bought Partey until the last day on the window when forced to by A.Madrid. Because the owner is a tight who doesn't like paying transfer fees. Arteta obviously knew that bringing in Gabriel, he was never going to get to buy both Dani and Partey. Able to get Dani on another loan, he took it and held out for Partey. Just as well because he wouldn't have got the money. Not after Gabriel plus another 25 mil for Dani. Poor sod still had to beg til the last minute just to get what he did.

Everyone is talking about our lack of creativity and you are talking about Leno not fitting the system? Wtf??? As a keeper, his job is to save shots and stop opposition from scoring. I am looking at both of the goalies we had...Leno and Emi...the only positive Emi had over Leno was he was a bit more commanding in the air. Their kicking is about the same. So tell me again how Leno does not fit the system. I dont recall Emi spraying passes to either touching or springing an attack.

And again..for a goalie who has consistently been one of our top 3 performers since he became number one, how is he bad for us defensively?? Your logic is...well...illogical.

We have looked poor offensively for for 18 months. How that. Our defensive issues have never been down to a goalie. How does a goalie contribute to us conceding 20+ shots in games last season?? Our defensive unit was terrible and that has gotten much better. There isnstill a mistake in players like Luiz, Bellerin and Xhaka..but overall we are miles better than we were with Emery. The issue now is creativity. That is really it.

You dunce or just hard-headed? Lack of creativity is why we failed to score. But Leno being skittish and unsure of himself in this system is why we CONCEDED. He SHOULD have cleaned up after Bellerin's error, not compounded it, leading to the goals as he did.

Since it's actually the goal conceded which is the critical stat responsible for the loss. Both the MF issue AND the suspect parts of Leno's game, in this system need highlighting and fixing. Changing the MF but keeping the 3, will still see us concede goals we don't have to. Stop reading it as Leno bashing. I'm actually trying to HELP our keeper here. We are playing a system which fully exposes every single weakness he has. Why make his life difficult and cost oursleves goals if we needn't

Has he been given the chance to play further forward yet? With Partey added to the midfield there is no reason why we can't play a back four and have Ceballos moved further forward then we can see what he can do.
