Alisson is the one you can't afford to be without. Adrian is so bad you can have most of the rest of your squad fit and still be vulnerable, as the Villa game shown.
Adrian wasnt at fault for the villa debacle. The whole team was plus people forget we had adrian at the start for like 10 games in which we won the super cup due to his saves.

He reminds me of Claudio Bravo when he was at City, any clean shoot or ball into the box causes absolute mayhem.
Even the winning run you had at the start of last season didn't you concede in almost every game? Off the top of my head he was responsible for the Southampton goal against you, the penalty he gave away in the super cup and Madison's goal at Anfield. He also gave Arsenal a gift which luckily for you guys they missed (can't remember the culprit think it was Pepe). He also single handedly saw to your chances of a treble with his errors against Atletico and Chelsea.
I reckon you can get away with losing 5 outfield players and still challenge but if you lose Alisson for time forget it.
Adrian is ok for a few games but ur all right he is so inconsistent.

I really think we are up against it now. I was worried about our chances without vvd. Now without gomez i think it may prove too much.
I wouldnt be as pessimistic if matip coukd string games together. But the reality is we know within 3 or 4 games from now he'll be out with another knock.
Said it the other day but its really just about trying to hang on in there until january now. If we are within 3 or 4 points of the top come january and we buy a centre half then we will still have a shot. If we dont buy then we have nobody to blame but ourselves if we come up short come may.
Unless we also suffer injuries in attack then I think we'll be fine. Fabinho and Matip should be the centre back pairing against Leicester and going forward, and if Matip gets injured again then we can call upon Williams or Phillips. In any event we should have the firepower to outscore the opposition in most games if we have to take that approach. And then sign someone in January if not a free agent sooner.
By xmas we will be like 5 points plus clear..dont fret

I'm curious about players performances post a Covid infection given the potential grim question marks over long term affects.
