Pretty sure chillwell is in the pl team of the season so far on who scored or somewhere I saw today, can’t find it. And he missed first couple of games too

I must admit it is a bit harsh to say Chilwell is poor, he's been very good for Chelsea this season. Mount is a good player as well, think he needs to be in a better position though rather than trying to accommodate him in a side. Not sure how effective he is off the left.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He’s been playing deeper recently and he’s been very good. He’s probably most similar to Henderson in which he may be underrated by rival fans for a while but has a huge impact without necessarily scoring

Think he's definitely better in a midfield 3 central role rather than coming off the left. Just a case of how does he get in ahead of Kante, Jorginho and Kovacic, unless you drop Jorginho for games against sides who just sit in.

Arro I don’t have any particularly strong opinion about the CBs in general. Fofana is too early doors for me to judge him, Evan’s looks like he is slowing down - it’s not really an area that there is a standout for me yet
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fofana is just pure class. So calm, reads the game brilliantly, is fast, excellent in the air, his passing is excellent and he drives forward and sets up attacks. He will be one of the best in the world and we just need to enjoy watching him until he inevitably moves on to one of the biggest clubs in the world. He really is that good. Evans is just a leader and reads the game brilliantly but yeah he’s not quick and never has been but doesn’t really need to be because he reads the game so well and doesn’t go marauding up he pitch like Maguire does so his lack of pace doesn’t cause issues like it did with Maguire who was too slow to get back.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

To be fair, you once compared Drinkwater to Glen Hoddle, so.....
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Drinky was quality, he should never have left but he did and since his career has fallen through the floor.

You’ll see just how good Fofana is on Sunday, assuming he’s fit that is because he had to pull out of the French U21 squad with a knee issue.

tbf hes started most our games this year in some fashion or another. But we do have a big squad, just got to hope to stay in the competitions which we already failed with the league cup.

Interesting feedback on Chilwell and Mount.

To help me out, how good do you think Mount will be compared to top players? I wouldn’t have him in your team over other options you have.

Compare him to Grealish and Maddison who are influencing games week in week out it seems odd that Southgate picks him.

Grealish showed him up badly last night. Mind you, I could have shown up half that England team hence my original post!!

Because in that season he was excellent and I didn’t know then that he would leave and his career would spiral the way it has. If he’d stayed at Leicester then who knows how good he would be now, we will never know but one thing I’m pretty confident about is he’d still be playing regularly and not cast off into obscurity.

Mount???

I think it’s obvious Mount doesn’t belong in that list.

Mount is a very good presser of the ball - one of the best in the league in fact. Behind that he flatters to deceive, his offensive numbers support this.

mount was englands best player in one of the recent games. Like i say mount, unlike grealish and maddison (both a few years older btw) is not going to be a headline grabber all the time but he affects the games in other ways. Chelsea played noticeably poorer last year without him, this year the jury is still out.
Mount if key to a way the modern team play, he's chelseas best presser with a bit of end product. He's good on the ball, can take a free kick(despite last nights woeful attempt) and corners and is a box to box dynamo.
I dont see mount being a teams best player, but i can see him, on occassion being the most integral to how a team sets up.

posted on 16/11/20

James maddison at 20 was playing in championship

Mason mount got 7 goals,5 assists and was runner up in chelseas poty

Jack grealish at 20 started 7 games and was sub 10 times for villa getting just one assist.

Just roughly worked out their ages, won't be 100% accurate, but mount has a lot of room to grow

Kasper
TAA Soyuncu Gomez Chillwell
Henderson Tielemans Grealish
Vardy Kane Sterling

Although that formation doesn't work, i can see kane dropping deeper like he does with son and threading balls to vardy and sterling

Yep. He was decent. You compared him to Hoddle.

Glen Hoddle.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hoddle wasn’t brilliant until later in his career, the 1986 World Cup is around the time that he really reached his peak and by then he was 29. I was comparing Drinky as a 24 year old and Hoddle at 24 wasn’t as good as he eventually was. We will never know just how good Drinky could have been because he left Leicester and his career spiralled.

Kante hasn’t been as good since he left Leicester and neither has Mahrez but both were brilliant for us and were receiving rave reviews week in week out, just like Drinky was. You only have to look at Vardy to see the difference between staying and leaving. He’s the only one who has continued to improve and continues to be talked about as one of the best in the league, nobody mentions Kante or Mahrez anymore.

He literally won player of the year at chelsea

literally everyone mentions kante as the best defensive minded midfielder in the league.
Many would put him in a pl 11 and if not for injuries last year everyones team would have him and kdb in it.

As for the Drinkwater comparison. Age had nothing to do with it if I remember correctly. It was a comparison on ability and even passing/ style of play.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Come off it neither Kante or Mahrez are talked about anymore, Chelsea were talking about getting rid of Kante and Mahrez rarely plays. They’re not as good as that were at Leicester.

And yeah I compared their passing style because at the time Drinky’s passing was reminiscent of Hoddle’s. Just because Drinky’s career has gone downhill it doesn’t mean that at the time there weren’t comparisons because there were.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

The comparisons were crazy at the time, as they still are now.

Mahrez rarely plays but has played over 100 games in two and a bit seasons with City including 55 last season and 10 so far this.

Kante isn't spoken about being sold, unless you believe everything you read. When he is fit, he plays and is still seen as the best DM at Chelsea.

You're talking rubbish. Again.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Maybe you thought the comparisons were crazy but you didn’t watch him every week like I did. Some of his passing was sublime and definitely reminiscent of Hoddle. I never said he was as good as Hoddle, only that he reminded me of him because he did.

Kante isn’t the best defensive midfielder in the league anymore either, Ndidi is. Every time we play Chelsea Ndidi absolutely bosses Kante. He’s physically superior and has won more tackles and interceptions than Kante has for the last four seasons, in fact he’s been the top for both in the whole of Europe. Kante is better at passing and setting up attacks but he’s not as good as a defensive midfielder. You’ll most likely laugh at that too but not many Leicester fans will trade Ndidi for Kante now. Ndidi was also playing week in week out in the PL at 21 compared to Kante who was 24 when he joined us.

Never hear of Mahrez anymore and he was left out of the entire squad against Liverpool and he still hasn’t repeated his figures from when we won the league. Not sure where you get those figures from but according to Whoscored in 2018/19 he made 14 appearances with 13 of them as a sub and in 2019/20 he made 21 appearances with 12 of those as a sub. His two best seasons for goals and assists were both at Leicester. Wiki says he’s made 65 total appearances. So who is talking rubbish? Again!
