Have 5 * jut for trying to keep this place alive.
7 at the back?
One more than Motherwell who played a 6-4-0 for large spells of the game on saturday.
You have my sympathy....its eye bleeding stuff.
We play three centre halves, two full backs who are full backs, not wing backs, and two defensive midfielders.
Then we play three strikers. But two of them have to go wide. So we see Nicky Clark doubling up at left back to help out Jamie Robson.
It's awful.
Only have highlights to go on for most of the season but being on furlough I tuned into this game. I won't waste my time again for the foreseeable. My only input would be Like Bolton seems like he has a set of afterburners for legs so I'm not sure why any footage I see United do not seem to use this major asset?
Pretty pathetic from Hibs not being able to hold on to a lead like that with so little time to play.
The same goes for Celtic. 2-0 up with less than half of the game to play. Some teams really are bottle merchants and need to learn some game management.
You should not be throwing away leads like that. Glad I don't support either of those teams.

Honestly mate it's such a slog having to watch us every week.
Think Bolton was out for a few weeks due to the covid incident but we definitely need to utilise him on the wing rather than at wing back which is where he was deployed previously.
In a way I'm glad we're not at the stadium these days because I'd be pretty raging doing the 130 mile round trip to watch this pash every second week.

Can't believe Osman Sow scored for you to be honest. Surely he must have injured himself while doing it?

Yeah it looks very uninspiring. Hopefully the points keep coming though and we improve over time, I'll take take it this season if we are cack but stay up. I only mention Bolton as I was listening to the radio a month or so ago and United where chasing a game and all the commentators kept saying Bolton was a speed merchant but United kept trying to attack on the opposite wing.
The problem for me is that we have no real plan for how we attack and build chances, and thats primarily because the centre halves seem to be under the instruction to shell it forward as early as possible. We've got no midfield to make passes to release the wide players. Hopefully he can get Butcher to function in a midfield two (rather than just standing between the centre halves) and him and Fuchs can build a partnership in there.
But that considered you are in a top 6 spot and i would back you to overtake motherwell who were very lucky with their bonus 6 points.
1st season back consolidate and organise. THen hopefully improve squad in summer an be more adventurous.
If its the same next season though then you might need to go to the ground and throw some sharks.
Out of curiosity would you have preferred Nielson to stay

I think the timing of his departure was more of an issue than him actually leaving. I don't think you'll find many United fans who were sad to see him leave, and I include myself in that. The performances this season are almost a continuation of last seasons performances - we weren't playing particularly well last season, but we were at least creating chances for Shankland to score, and he was so clinical that we didn't need many chances to win games. This season we don't create chances and that's the real difference.

It’s great, isn’t it?
I didn’t see the game (actually I was recording all day, first time playing in a group since Feb - it was pretty emotional, wore off quickly though given that the first number was Wizzard...!) but all the reports I heard mirror what you’re saying, Ivan. Interesting to see if we do anything in the next window, Benji to Celtic apparently is quite likely. Good news is Hughes to County, which means we’re safe from relegation!
Nelson did the job he was employed to do. We got up after to long in the championship. Sorry to see him go? Nope I think his celebration of going to a penalty shootout with St Mirren in the play off final summed up Neilsons tenure at United just happy not to lose.
Delighted to see Hughes go to County. HOpefully he lets the tea lady pick the team again.
Bolton was a speed merchant
......................
Brilliant. Haven’t heard that expression since I was at school and that wasn’t yesterday.
Like Hughes. Speaks a lot of sense albeit he probably doesn’t know when it’s better to say nothing than say the truth in the modern game.
I like Hughes as well, but I wouldn't want him managing my club.

Been a while since I heard it as well. I should have put it in quotes as it was a direct commentary quote. Those guys are probably of a similar generation to me so terms like speed merchant and stramash still mean something to me.
Apart fro Hughes being undermined by the ICT chairman he wanted to jack it in anyway to get back the central belt.
I guess 3 years without a job takes it’s toll?
His spell at Raith was a disaster to be fair (and where the tea lady reference comes from).

His verbal volley at the young players there was spectacular!
Just sounds like Peter Houston all over again:
Start extremely defensively playing for a point.
Lose a goal because the other team always has the ball.
Wait until 60+ minutes to make a change.
Actually play 4-4-2 and attack.
Get a goal because the team is going forward.
Draw 1-1 and be delighted that the "play for a point" tactic worked.
Repeat next week.
