Who is the sad individual who gave this one ✨

Sorry to hear that More mate, hopefully they can speedily get the vaccines rolled out and things will be somewhat better / less serious in a few months.

On a side note I’m pretty sure it’s legal for you to still drop food off to them etc as it’s classed as giving care to a relative so it’s essential travel. Also if you live on your own then you’re their support bubble too

As much as most will disagree rer, Boris has to do the right thing and go full on North Korea till this chit is over.
Ban all public travel, no one on the streets without proper paperwork, allocated shopping spaces.

People will say tbe economy, its facked anyway.

If my parents were vulnerable and in need of help I would travel to them regardless of the tier systems. You have to draw the line between doing your bit for the greater good and applying common sense to a situation where your loved ones have needs.

Fully agree, and I have personally done so.

Morespurs

Do you have a broader family or friends network that could assist you?

Also given this must be undeniably troubling you, could you not unload and seek advice from local friends?

There are good counselling services available if you find it difficult to impart this information on people you know in real life.
I have every sympathy for you, but I doubt you’ll get what you need to appease your obvious upset on JA. There are better alternatives available surely.

This is our stance.
We have three 'oldens' that we have looked after all year. The mother-in-law late 70's (slight dementia) still came around to ours on Christmas Day and the three of us went to aunt Betty/uncle Bryan (both early 90's, very frail) on Boxing Day.
Yes they're old, yes they're frail but we were as sensible as we've been all year.

Sorry to hear this mate. Just FYI:

Under Tier 4 restrictions, there are numerous exceptions on leaving the home including "to buy goods or obtain services from any business or service permitted to be open for....vulnerable persons or persons in the same household as a vulnerable person. (schedule 3A, part 1, Para 2 (2)(a))

It is also permissible to leave your home to "provide care or assistance, including relevant personal care (as defined in the Safeguarding Vulnerable Persons Act 2004), to a vulnerable person. (schedule 3A, part 1, Para 2, (5(c)))

Further, there is an exception on gatherings, where the gathering is "reasonably necessary to provide care or assistance to a vulnerable person or a person who has a disability....."
(schedule 3A, part 2, Para 6, (4(d)))

A vulnerable person is defined as "any person aged 70 or older" and "any person aged under 70 who has an underlying health condition, including (but not limited to) [various conditions which are listed but include chronic neurological conditions]"
Part 1, Regulation 2

The relevant Act is "The Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) All Tiers) England) Regulations 2020"

You can find it here: https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2020/1374/contents

Might want to run your eyes over these bits of the law, and the legislation in general to see whether you think it may apply to you. Someone above mentioned whether you could look into being linked household and whether that applies. Might be worth checking that.

The law on this is such a shambles. Most of the time they publish it the night before it's due to come into force. Most police and MPs don't know the latest rules.

Also, Adam Wagner, on Twitter and youtube does a lot of useful videos and notes on the legislation and what you can do.

Hey guys, thanks for the support - much appreciated

I have been doing the journey for a bit, from Sussex to London, but yesterday on my way up there, I had the old bill on me,
pulled me over and was told, nicely, that I am not allowed to stay up there under tier 4 and would have to drive back down after dropping off some shopping!

My mum then told me that she had food parcels delivered to her by a local charity. They went around dropping off leaflets and my mum rung them up. I decided to head back home.
But this shook me up a bit tbh, when you see the Police and the signs on the road saying only travel for essential travels, and this thing about not being able to stay up there!

Carry on doing what you're doing 'morespurs'.
All the best to your mum and dad

Sorry haven't read back, it's allowed even in a lockdown to care and provide for the vulnerable and elderly or in need.

Sorry to hear about your folks MoreSpurs.

Pretty sure they can form your bubble and you can travel to them if they are vulnerable.

You can take them what they need and leave it on the doorstep and talk to them from a safe distance.

But your’re right. It really is the worst of times.
