Well you can have mine then.
Because I am insanely competitive and try to find other things to do besides work as best I can at the moment, I tot up everyone's scores as well, to see how (badly) I am doing (especially these last few rounds).
I had you down as 30 as well Downsouf...
ROUND 17
Friday 1st January
Everton 1 West Ham 0 = 0
Manchester Utd 1 Aston Villa 0 = 2
Saturday 2nd January
Tottenham 2 Leeds 1 = 1
Crystal Palace 2 Sheffield Utd 0 = 7
Brighton 1 Wolves 1 = 1
WBA 1 Arsenal 2 = 1
Sunday 3rd January
Burnley 2 Fulham 1 = N/A
Newcastle 1 City 2 = 14
Chelsea 1 Manchester City 2 = 4
Monday 4th January
Southampton 0 Liverpool 1 = 0
OWF will probably expand on it as well, as necessary (he is the co-ordinator after all) but for what it's worth, those are my independent calcs.
Dublin - we've all been there... you'll get 77 this time round with pure guesswork for FA Cup R3!
Afternoon Downsouf. Young Warwick has taken the words out of my mouth (there's unusual) and has saved me the trouble of copying out your predictions and respective scores!
It looks like you have scored 3 points for a correct result, irrespective of the actual score when in fact you only score 1 for the correct result with 3 for each teams correct score, so the maximum available for a correct prediction in every respect is 7.
I have wondered about the merits of awarding 3 points for a correct result, retaining the 3 points for each side's correct score so that the maximum for any game is 9 points, which is something we can decide on for next season. Over the not so festive season I did have a look to see how that would have affected this season's scores. It actually made things a lot closer, as follows:
1 True Blue 601
2 Downsouf 597
3 Bowstring 592
4 MITLBC 536
5 Young Warwick 530
6=Appleton 525
6=Old Warwick 525
8 Nuneaton 510
9 Dublin 489
10 Dungeon Master 476
11 Foxello 460
12 Lone Groover 455
13 Stroud 132
(Up to and including Round 14).
Commiserations Dubs on your 12 but I should point out that the worst score this season is a less than magnificent 7, amassed by me!

No Downsouf, afraid not. Just the 1, although this increases to 2 if the score margin is correct, ie actual score 2-1, predicted score 1-0 or 3-2 etc.
Id be interested to get everyone's views re changing it to 3 for the result next season, as outlined above though.
I think it's easier to get the result prediction right than the goals scored prediction so really goals scored ( being correct ) should get higher scores as they seem to now. .

I raised this with OWF about 2 weeks after I started, as I noticed I could get a really tough score draw correct (at least the result correct, which was an unlikely outcome given the teams) and only get 1 point. I think I predicted a 2-2 and it ended up 1-1, but because someone predicted 1-4 or something, they got more points than I did, despite being way off target... That to me seemed unfair or in some way unsustainable.
Classic case in point is predicting Southampton to win last night (say 2-1, although they won 1-0), but anyone predicting Liverpool to win 2-1, would get 3 points for Southampton's goal, whilst predicting the correct result last night would only get 2 points.
To make it fairer, although I take the point that predicting actual scores is tough enough, getting the correct "result" should score 3 points in and of itself. I think retaining 3 points for a correct score for a given team should also be retained, as it allows for good scoring.
If I am right, then the matrix for scoring would be as follows:
0 points if you get an incorrect result and do not predict correct scores
3 for correct result, plus bonus of 1 point (4 in total) if correct margin of victory (although this does not give benefit for predicting draws correctly) so this may need to be considered further, as score draws were and are tricky to get right - just ask the Football Pools Panel...
6 points for correct result and 1 team's correct score (eg: predicting 2-0 and actually winning 2-1).
9 points - full correct score/result.
Double bubble for City...
The thing that needs to be considered is how to ensure correctly predicting draws gets the same benefit as scoring goals and/or dealing with the "margin of victory" point, which only benefits a winning scoreline...
Food for thought!

Well TB, having spent another 90 minutes recalculating the remainder of the scores and adding appropriate bonuses, were we to have had 3 points for the result plus the 3 for each sides score AND the extra point for margin of victory, the table would look like this:
1 True Blue 860
2 Bowstring 819
3 Downsouf 766
4 Young Warwick Fox 736
5 MITLBC 732
6 Nuneaton Fox 695

8 Appleton 688
9 Dublin Fox 638
10 Foxello 614
11 Dungeon Master 609
12 Lone Groover 573

But we can't change the rules mid season so it's as you were. 😊
