McLeish will last 1 season only

Bents records this season is horrific. At this rate he will get 5 goals from 50 games.

I hope you all protest to get him out. His teams play awful football (if you can call it that) I have to feel sorry for you guys. Mark my words, he will be remembered as your worst ever manager, if you make the mistake of allowing him the time to prove it. The stats are there for all to see, just as they were, when he was at Blues. Don't be fooled by the bright start you had to the season, you will slide slowly down the league, the players will lose all confidence and you will pull your hair out at the idiotic squad selections and tactics. This style may have worked in Scotland, the 2 horse race affair, but in England he is out of his depth. Hey, when he goes, keep your hands off Hughton!

I hope he lasts significantly less than one season.

As I see it he's been here too long already.

McLeish out now.

Lads, don't you think that there is an element of McLeish not releasing the handbrake until he reaches 40 points.

He ain't going to play exciting expansive football because as soon as we get a hiding the anti McLeish mob will give him pelters.

The guy is on a hiding to nothing.

I have this opinion that is Sir Alex or Mourinho were in charge, some section of Villa fans would still moan!

And on a final note, if you want instant success lads and top of the table stuff - go and support Man City or Utd.

ROBBER - Maybe McLeish WILL release the handbrake if we get to 40 points, the problem is that by averaging a point a game, it will take till May to get to that target!

McLeish had three and a half seasons to bring attractive football to Blues - he failed. Anyone who thinks that McLeish is anything but a dour, defensive manager is very badly deluded. I would much rather finish 15th under Mertinez than 10th under McLeish. Let's face it, we're not going to win silverware, we're not going to splkash any cash so all we have is entertainment.

McLeish out and NOW.

By the way, this site is so differenet to Sports Witness. They're all prepared to give him time on there.

I know you're a Villain, but do you not remember the 2009/10 season when McLeish stumbled across a system that brought us an amazing run that took us to safety in the Premier League by January/February?

We started off with boring dross football. Our best player Chucho Benitez wasn't played because he felt he "wasn't upto pace with the English game."

After picking up 7 points from the first 9 games, the pressure got cranked up by the fans chanting 4-4-2 for insanely long periods of games, sometimes 30 mins non-stop.

This forced him to reluctantly play Chucho Benitez with Jerome upfront and guess what - we won the next game.

From that, he did not make one tactical or personnel change to the starting XI for about 15 games until we were safe in the Prem. We got to 40 points after 25 games.

It was at this point that he decided to re-introduce his tactics which saw us pick up 10 points from the last 13 games.

In predictable McLeish fashion, last season just followed on from where 09/10 left off, after deciding against signing our best player from the previous season, Chucho Benitez.

In summary, the handbrake will never be released.

I've just had a look at the league results from his three full seasons in charge of us - ie with HIS team - bearing in mind one of these was in the Championship

Between August 2008 and May 2011, we won 44 league games.

37 of them by a margain of one goal
7 of them by a margain of two goals
0 of them by a margain of three goals or more.

The man is an entertainment vacuum.

Fantastic summary SCT, although I am genuinely surprised by the apparent 7 league games we apparently won by two goals.

Presumably the majority of these were in the Championship.

Brummerdickens, here's your proof...

23/09/2008 2-0 Barnsley (H)
25/10/2008 3-1 Sheffield Wednesday (H)
14/02/2009 2-0 Nottingham Forest (H)
14/03/2009 2-0 Doncaster Rovers (A)
06/04/2009 2-0 Wolverhampton Wanderers (H)

None in 2009/10 Season

23/10/2010 2-0 Blackpool (H)
16/04/2011 2-0 Sunderland (H)

....and yes, that Sheffield Wednesday match was the only game in those three seasons where we scored three goals in a league match.

That's an almost three year wait until we beat Millwall 3-0 on the 11th of last month and i'm sure we'll see more this season.... touch wood!!!

Robber_Hotzenplotz_theultimatevillan - I can accept that we aint going to challenge for the Prem title or the Champions League spots, what I can't accept is the dire dross style of football we are currently playing. We should be there or therabouts for the Europa League spots, but the way McLeish has got us playing we will be in a scrap with Wolves, the Baggies et al for relagation. As SCT's stats bear out McLeish does not play interesting freeflowing goalscoring football.

I will not be going to any game home, or away whilst McLeish is in charge, I vote with my feet and yes I have got a friggin massive hat with the word fickle on it.

Trotter Fan Here In Peace.

But only as long as you keep your paws off Owen capische?

Seriously guys I do actually feel for you and I bet many trotters would. We too had to endure some truly horrible football under Gary (S)Meg(Head)son and it got to the point where Bolton games were played in psychiatric hospitals to insomniacs when medication failed. I don't hate McLeish the way you guys do and actually think he's not that bad a manager but he IS one dimensional in his approach and that gets dangerous as we so nearly found out to our cost under the Dark Lord Smegsonius.

Since you lost Martin O'Neill it seems yoiur chairman has done the same as ours after Big Sam left ie he's lost the plot at least for now. But there IS hope for you. Gartside woke up and smelled the coffee here and I bet Randy Lerner and his merry men will too. In response to moovilla I too refused to go to any hone games towards the end of the meggo reign and refused to renew my season ticket after twenty consecutive years. It's not fickle to choose NOT to spend your money if you don't think you'll get any value for it. That's only common sense.

To all Villa fans I wish you all the best and hope you'll soon lose the dark feelings hanging over Villa Park.

i agree mate football is an entertanment and i crave the game to be played that way at villa park but i do understand some of the small teams having to play the eck and megson way to to survive but clubs as big as the villas should after 20yrs in the prem should be by now playing good entertaning football by now and success the comes our way would be a bonus.

Owen Coyle would be fantastic for us.
---------------------------------------

The guy who has secured 6 losses out of 7 this year.

As for the goal scoring of Mcleish sides. He is now in charge of Villa, not blues. We have better forwards and create more chances and score more.

Bent missed 2 sitters against Newcastle.

We have already won by 2 clear goals 3 times this season.

Agreed that Villa have very good players such as Nzog, Albrighton . Can AV use both wingers to open up games under AM does Nzogbia look good or his he constantly being asked to defend... Good result but did Wigan turn up? Good result for AV but dont rate AM style of fottball...
