We have to seriously question our recruitment policy, we’ve signed 73 players in 3and a half years, that is a crazy stat, what I’d like to know is how many of those have made more than 25 appearances?? My guess is not too many. It now looks like we are bringing in another midfielder, on loan at Watford from Man U, and possibly a 37 year old forward from Brighton, that’ll be 75 players through the door in 3 and a half years.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

That in itself is a total embarrassment - absolutely and utterly diabolical

Yeah I’m serious. Those two games do actually count as results you know Rev

Brentford are not on a bloody shoestring. How much do you think they paid for Toney? Do some research before you come out with ridiculous statements.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Get a grip

They paid £5m for Toney plus add ons....

HOWEVER, that was because the sold Watkins for £28M and they’ve just sold Benrahma for £25M

Their recruitment policy is far more superior that the clowns we have running our club

The money we’ve wasted on total crap, some who will never even get to wear the shirt a fckin joke

And yes compared to the money we’ve wasted they run and a much smaller budget and income - that is a fact

I don’t disagree with the criticism of our recruitment policy. Brentford have done amazingly well to sell at those prices (although the figures you quote are with add ons unlike with Toney <hmm> ) but they spend a fair bit. Forest have kept below financial fair play rules for 3 seasons now so wouldn’t be surprised if Brentford have spent as much if not more. If you’re going to get as the word facts then please show some evidence otherwise you look a bit of a prat

Surely Brentford can afford to spend more, FFP is about loss, they turn huge profits on their deals, Maupay, Benrahama and Watkins. Yes they spent a decent amount on Toney, but they are well in the black. Now check our scattergun approach, selling players has kept us balanced, but the majority of our signings have been less than inspiring to say the least. Brentford have been there or thereabouts for several seasons and will more than likely be up there this season, whereas we will be fortunate to even stay in the Championship.

CH has an equivalent record to Cotteril, Karanka, Montanier and Pearce. When I say equivalent...I actually mean worse.

Poor performances, poor results and no goals.

We’re a counter attacking side being forced to play his poor brand of football.

Not a fan, I’ll be happy when he leaves.

To prove CH doesn’t have a clue? He picks Figs.

That’s exactly my point caniggia - dave has totally hit the nail in the head

As for proof - well the table doesn’t lie - neither do the results irrespective of performances - if they don’t point to how crap we are, then nothing will

No disrespect to the lad but we have now signed ab19 year old on loan for the rest of the season. On loan at Watford from Man Utd. As I said no disrespect meant but is this really we need ??

Nothing will change at Forest until we get an owner in who’s prepared to take the sensible approach, by stop interfering in the managers business and also build from the grass roots up, allowing subtle changes to be made here and there by a manager who has a 5 year plan and knows how to go about it

Whilst ever we have an owner who holds a gun to the managers head and pulls the trigger ever 5 minutes when we don’t get instant success we’ll continue to do what we’ve done for the past 20 odd years

The running of this club, becomes more of a joke season after season

Well I agree with that. All I was saying was I think we will stay up and I’m generally very pessimistic when it comes to Forest. Feel that Hughton will turn it round and form over last 8 games suggests he will. Last three games have been very poor but he’s definitely made us harder to beat.

Fair enough Caniggia

I’m not so optimism about staying up, but I define you still believe we need to keep hold of CH at all costs - even if we end up getting relegated, we still need him at the helm

Let’s face it, we are now stuck with what we have. Other than a miracle on Monday, we have no more aces to play, I am becoming very irritated by CH’s negative approach to the game, and tbh don’t think he is the right man to either take us forward, and I even have doubts whether he can keep us up. I’d love to see how 29,000 at the CG would react to our current ‘style’ of play, I certainly doubt they’d be happy. All said it’s now a time to stick together try and get some kind of team spirit going and endeavour to stay in the Championship, can’t believe I’m saying that, but it’s how I feel. We’ve been sold a complete lemon by our illustrious owner, who tbh I don’t think gives a damn, and it’s now up to CH to make the most of a perilous situation. I supported in league 1, I’ll continue to support us, but even my patience is wearing very thin with this bunch of over paid, over rated and in many cases over the hill mercenaries we call players.

dave the more you say, the more I agree with you - I’d still want CH here though to at least give it a couple of seasons - when was the last time we had a manager who lasted more that 2 seasons?

The vast majority of this squad are overpaid, overrated self indigent mercenaries

Unreal league this, I'm a huge fan of Chris so hard for me to do a nah nah when we seem to be finally getting our act together and you are starting to really struggle.

No point on turning on each other though lads especially the likes of Canniggia and Rev, it might appear polar opposite in views now but can't see you going down and give him time, Hughton will do good by you.

Personally speaking, hope not but that's the way I'm suppose to roll

posted on 31/1/21

I think personally hughton is objectively a good manager. Pragmatic, and abit dull, but a consistently successful manager at our level and above. In Forest fashion, if Messi signed today he’d struggle to look average. There’s just something about our set up that saps the potential out of any player than didn’t come through to academy.

I don’t get why grabban is starting as captain, when he is not a captain, has something like the worst shot accuracy of any strikers in the league, and Taylor who’s on the bench had scored more than double than him with much less time. I can’t see this being a choice, but more a condition to play under?

Why do somewhere like half of our players play only one, or no games before being shipped off 6 months later?

posted on 31/1/21

Judging on our performance/results over the last eight ( or so) league games we are playing poorly (hoofing it) but picking up points.

The question is should we continue hoofing it while we are picking up points or do we switch to an expansive game and risk more pointless games.

Hoof it and stay up? Tippy-Tappy and go down?

My hope was the Greeks would have built an identity more than that team “trying to get back”, after two decades and three owners. But we actually have less of an identity now than when they started. They’ve not really ‘built’ anything because the Greeks vision only includes the prize and not the path to get there.

I think(hope) Chris will keep us up. Krovinovic will definitely help, and garner will hopefully help and we’ll hopefully squeak over the line. But I’m apprehensive over next season. Our best attackers are loanees and Sow, ameobi, and rebiero will be out of contract in the summer.

....I went on a bit of a tangent there. Decent point. Coventry AND Wycombe are must wins though.

posted on 31/1/21

Trouble is, there is no improvement in team performance's, although what can you expect with a squad of loanee's & journeymen?
Just beating Coventry & Wycombe may not be enough.

Plus Marinakis shows no desire to get rid of Vrentzos who is the architect of this mess.

Talking about team quality.

Journo’s saying sow is off and Murray is in.

While I’m not gonna jump on Glen for his age, there’s no point in bolstering up front if we have no hope in hell in winning the midfield battle.

We need that platform in the middle of the park to spring off. We lost most of it when we let Watson leave, if we lose Sow without replacing him then we’ll be all engine and little else.

That's speculation, why sign Garner, but not bring back Johnson from Lincoln?

I think he is more a defensive midfielder than Johnson; also Garner has played twenty games in the Championship this season.

And we definitely need MORE defensive midfielders, god forbid we should get an attacking one.
