The Guardian this morning are reporting research by Imperial College London that suggests, in England, whilst overall numbers of infections are down prevalence remains high, and, it appears to be spreading fastest amongst primary age schoolchildren and older.
Exercising caution in the reopening schools would seem to be sensible, much like the Scottish Government approach, as would prioritising teachers for vaccination.

I understand but don't agree. Timing is everything in this pandemic. Lockdown has helped reduce infections but we have seen the effect previously of lifting lockdown too soon. Everybody wants this to be the last lockdown so caution is unfortunately necessary.
I would prioritise teachers as they are in close proximity with fairly large numbers of different pupils throughout the day. And, if the governments deem getting kids back into education a priority for kids and for the economy, them they should vaccinate those responsible for working with them, in the same way they prioritised care home workers. They have a duty of care to protect those they direct to work face to face.
I think teachers should be prioritized.
I also think after nearly a year of teaching online, their overall workload should be reduced in times to come, and perhaps their holiday entitlement should be increased in recognition of all we’ve done.
We’re not the NHS. But we are pretty close.
All of them except you Pointy 'cause as you've said on here you're over-paid and underworked. 😂😂😂
I agree that teachers should be prioritised in vaccinations. Part of the problem is the myth that's been peddled that young people can't spread the virus. If they then turn around and vaccinate the teachers, it exposes yet another lie.

A wee bit worrying that the same people saying it won't lead to an increase in cases also saying children are usually the first infected in a household.
Those two points don't seem to go together

And if you have low numbers of the virus in circulation.. of course you won't get an immediate spike in cases.
It's initially harder for the virus to profligate and spread until a threshold is hit and they begin to rise exponentially as they did last year.
Which is why opening schools up when it's still quite prevalent in the community already seems incredibly short-sighted and counter productive.

Been debated on here./
We came to a concensus that teachers were largely shiftless bastirts who only become animated when unionising for a raise or in this case attempting to elbow old women out of the way for a jag.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well that's not accurate at all.
There's also old men.

The React 1 report from Imperial College says infections have fallen by two-thirds across England but is spreading fastest amongst the 5-12 and 18-24 age group.
Personally I would rather listen to experts who are having to cope with a fast evolving situation. Advice will change as circumstances change. Apart from Boris 'it'll all be over by Christmas' no one else has said this is going to be over quickly.
