It needs to be paid or liquidation happens, then you are sent down to lower tiers of Scottish League 👍

It's late here, so I am off to bed and will check in the morning see how this thread turns out.

FWIW, I get frustrated that countries are obsessed with growth. I know why but it is unkind to the environment and ultimately unsustainable yet almost every country is obsessed with it in order to service increasing debt and provide services at notionally lower average cost per head. I think that cycle needs broken but there's no way in hell.

Some considerations I'd like to see...

Taxation on overseas spend or incentivisation for UK spend - even though it will hurt me bad lots of people are sitting on excess savings just now. Most will want some sort of holiday but flights aside none of that money is helping the UK economy.

Ditto cars - folk will be lining up to buy or lease motors mostly made overseas - nothing we can do short-term but again it feels wrong that the country will not benefit from spend on these big ticket items?

Green - there are fresh rounds of wind licenses being issued just now. The SG saw how big the bids were in England and have pulled their issue pending review that they might be able to make more money? Fair enough but let's press on with financing more green infrastructure. Shocking lack of a joined up hydrogen plan. Nobody addressing how air source heat pumps are close to useless in Scottish winters.

Amazon et al - we simply got to stop these cvnts shifting profits to low tax countries. It is a world problem. Would have no issue doubling VAT for online purchases.

Other than that, I think steady as she goes. Although recoup via income tax or VAT would be fairest there will always be exceptions and hard cases so a little her and there on everything is probably the way ahead plus usual rises on bevvy, fuel etc.

Hmm, lots of thoughts here,

Firstly travel, there are loads of folk, like ourselves desperately waiting to travel...to the UK, so that will increase the UK income.

Cars, well for every new car bought the Gov gets 20% vat.

Other points, there are others better placed than I to comment, although with VAT at 20% that is already a huge tax on goods (13% here in Ontario)

He called you? To talk instead of texting?
That seems odder than the jinky thing.
Who calls people? I’m getting the fear just thinking about it.

Who do we owe the money to out of curiosity? Doesn't the whole world owe similar amounts in proportion to their GDP?

Unless it's the Chinese or russians nobody is gonna invade us to just feck it. Pay feck all.

Also let's just make a new fake currency called bitpound or britcoin and just use those.

Easy

I'd be surprised if were Celtic to go for Clarke, I'd have thought they would go for a more forward thinking type.
Wouldn't faint if they had someone almost in place bar the shouting

It will be announced a day or two after Rangers wrap up the league. There you go.

Just bought the latest Orphan X book. Was just starting Shuggie Bain after reading Sapiens but it will have to wait for me to quickly get through Orphan

Got the next Jack Reacher on preorder for a signed copy. I'm not usually fussed about signed books but this could be Lee Child's last Reacher book.

I have a signed copy of Dead Man's Trousers by Irvine Welsh and a signed Ray Mears book also.

Hence 'apparently', and the erm emoji.

I thought it was a windup.
