Crazy article. Didn't you see him create our first goal? He was constantly a threat and played far better than his midfield counterpart. To single out Partey of all players after our forwards missed sitter after sitter and Xhaka literally gave them a goal is wild 🤣.
Odegaard and Ceballos aren’t going to cut it we need better ballers

I singled him out cos I expect better! We have the likes of Xhaka and Ceballos to trudge around the pitch in snail speed pace.
We chucked £45 million for Partey. He should command that area with authority, especially against what Burnley had to offer in that section of the pitch.

I dont think the point you make and the one the OP made are mutually exclusive. Yes Partey played the ball forward to Willian, who then played it to Auba who had a LOT to do to get the shots off and it was helped by not the best goalkeeping. But also, Partey was not looking forward as much as I have seen him play this season. He also dwelled on the ball TON when I have seen him more often than not play 2 or 3 touch football. It was a poor performance from him.
Overall, I think the midfield and forwards had poor games. Saka looked off the pace, Auba as well, Willian was safe mostly and pedestrian, xhaka was the same but also included a howler and Odegaard was not in the game. What is sad is that even though we were poor, we still created enough to win that goal. Add the VAR mistake and we were robbed. But if this is how we perform against better teams than Burnley, we will lose a lot more games this season
Arteta is coaching Partey to play his way.
tal vez una partey de salchichas sería más de tu agrado?
I do question the benefit of resting players. Saka had a midweek rest and was not at his best. Ditto for the team.
Let hope we see the positives of the midweek rest in Athens.
With Xhaka next to you hardly a confidence boost
Partey was actually pretty poor. Lost the ball wui9a few times and very slow as a whole
Saka wasnt that great either
I missed the first 20 mins but it was poor all around really. But then manager is a moron so what did you expect. The things we're seeing now are a symptom of the manager being bewilderingly lacking in attacking nouse strategically. Also repeatedly failing to recognize certain weaknesses that won't change in certain players then adjust tactics accordingly. I say bewilderingly because he used to be full of idea as a No 10 when he played, so should be using our attackers far better than he does.
It's getting harder and harder to be mad at the players because they're not being helped at all by the manager. His insistence on trying to play defensively with an overwhelmingly attack minded/attributed 11, is burning us time and time again.

Was Arteta that "full of ideas" as a player? He always struck me as your steady midfielder. Kept things ticking along and scored a few goals. Also decent on a set piece. I was not jumping for joy when we signed him. He was a Xhaka without mistakes. Deep lying midfielder not blessed with space but can pick a pass and recycle the ball. I never saw him as my go-to guy to get a result for the team/lead a team playing poorly to up their level.
