His injury record in the last couple of years is pretty awful. Would probably suit you.

He’s a good player and got great potential, but what’s the point if he’s not going to get on the pitch. 50 50 with this on, if it’s even true.

Yeah I thought that was the case. I wonder if we plan on signing Kabak too?
Van Dijk, Gomez, Matip, Konate, Kabak.

If that was the case then I'd be fine but I suspect either Matip will be sold or we pass on Kabak. I'd probably prefer Kabak as he seems to be able to play more than two game on the spin...

Matips injury replacement, hopefully van dijk doesn't come back and do his other knee

His injury record is atrocious

Another defensive crock. Just what you need.

So our masterplan is to replace Matip with Matip?

Looks like it's mainly muscle injuries (https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ibrahima-konate/verletzungen/spieler/357119)

Whilst it doesn't look great, muscle injuries at a young age don't necessarily mean long term problems. Gerrard had a few muscle injuries in the early days.

Having 3 young CB in Kabak, Gomez and Konate to compete for a place next to VVD - sounds pretty good to me,

Sounds good to me. I suspect matip will be gone u cant rely on him, so hopefully for next season:

Gomez
VVD
Kabak
Konate
B Davis
N Philip's

With one of Fabinho or Henderson who cam also.fill.in if we get the mother of all CB injuries again...highly unlikely btw.

6 CBs should be enough...fingers crossef

Yeah, I was just about to say that Gerrard had a lot of muscle issues what was ascribed to growing pains playing through those will strain the muscles. At 21 that’s not uncommon. 3 years ago he played 20+ games in the bundesliga.

Bring him in.

Quality player but injury prone

posted on 29/3/21

He’s played 17 league games since the start of last 2 seasons. Surely a huge risk at 40 million in current times.

Kabak looks decent

Only thing id say is hopefully this doesnt spell the end for kabak. After a slightly iffy(understandbly) start he has put in some real solid displays. For a guy who is only 20 he looks like he has the potential to be a really good player.

Given the current economic climate id be amazed if we spent close to 60m on 2 cbs. Surely it will be 1 or the other.

We will see.

If it is true and kabak gets the hump we will be at nothing i nthe CL with fabinho forced back to CB lol.

hopefully kabak knows he is in as well. Has done well at LCB which is great flexibility.

I suspect it will probably mean that Matip is on his way out either in the summer or going into next season. After this season, Klopp may want to have 5 quality CB's (VVD, Konate, Gomez, Kabak and Matip) in the squad until he knows one can go. I'd expect Phillips and Davies to leave.

for the record:

the boy is 21

this is from transfermarkt - the easy source but not the most accurate.

An ankle injury.
A full season out with some sort of serious injury
nothing else really of note

the fact is the serious injury was related to a hip/muscule injury in that region and with ANY mention of hip the medical staff need to be 100% crystal clear its permenanty fixed.

With footballers, i run a mile when i hear hip injury.

I'm sure the club are aware of his injury records, however, the medical and sports science staff may be capable of saying that they can provide a way that can help with injury prevention as well as strength and conditioning training to help improve his physical condition to try and avoid them type of muscle injuries as best they can.

absolutely but we have to be 100% sure as anything related to hip in a hard running sport is not a reciepe you want.

A little thigh strain or an ankle injury are no big deal. stuff happens in a contact spourt.

We have to recall that VVD got a bad ankly injury for southampton but didn't stop him winning cl and prem just cos he was assualted by an angry T-Rex doesn't mean he's injury prone.

the thing about it is that with the covid impact all we can really say is the guy wasn't right after covid and was out until the start of this season and then played.

When is the german winter break as well? that might make that little ankle injury look alot worse than it was as well.

I did see online that he had surgery on his hip last summer and has so far had no reoccurrence of anything relating to it, so hopefully the issue is already fixed.

roy keane might have said the same.

so would sturrdige for example.

the worry is that the injury leads to others like groin or hamsting instability.

the medical staff needs a long hard look at it, thats all.
