By far our best cb, just like how shaw is and was our best fb during the injuries, they stopped then people were able to see
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Shaw was no where near as injury prone as Bailly. I’m in 2 minds on this one.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Shaw was also quite clearly our best full back, even before he went up 5 levels this season.

If we buy a new CB this summer, then even a consistently fit Bailly is 3rd choice at the very best.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He’s played 27 league games in the last 4 seasons. 27!

Maguire and Lindelof are comfortably better than Bailly. And it’s not just because of their fitness. Bailly has to be one of the most overrated players to play for United.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think what people like about Bailly is that he's quick, aggressive and is all action. On paper he seems the perfect foil for Maguire. I probably rate him higher than you do but he does need to do a lot more to convince he can be a starting CB for United for a full season. I do think if he got over his fitness issues the raw ability is there. It's just he doesn't get any consistency when he's out as often, if not more, than he's available.

We should have kept Mike really but I accept he wanted to play.

But he has pace which is a big thing in this league. An average defender with pace and good in the air can do well in the PL. If only we could get one of these that can also stay fit.

Tuanzebe really needs a loan to a PL side next season. This season hasn’t really benefitted him at all and he’s been fit for pretty much all of it.

By far our best cb

Some United fans just say this probably because they have forgotten with him not playing much.

I remember in a the few games that he had played for United in between his injuries being as much as a liability as Linderloff and Maguire have been in the past. However since his last comeback Bailly looked better than he has ever been.

Fact is that as the squad has progressed over the last season or so since the restart last year, Bailly, Linderloff and Maguire have all improved themselves and much of the individual errors that we saw seem to have been eradicated, mainly.

But he’s also completely brainless. It’s weird how much better he is viewed the longer he goes without playing. People still remember that Jones is a clown, I don’t get why so many have forgotten that his Ivorian brother is.

Bailly ain't good enough.

He's only number 3 cb thru the lack of dynamism by the club. And if he ain't no better than lindelof ..........

Only emphasises how unambitious the club are.

He’s not done well injury-wise but he’s not Phil Jones level yet, give him time he’ll get there.

Phil Jones has 61 league apps in the last 5 seasons, Bailly has 62.

Do we know how much the contract is worth?

I think it's you who has forgotten how bad Jones is as he has been out for over a year. The guy is a nervous wreck of a defender who makes the whole backline nervous. At least Bailly projects confidence.

.....

He certainly projects more than Lindelof and Jones. And Tuanzebe for that matter.

Since Bailly has joined United he’s made 100 apps. In the same timeframe Jones has played 96 times. Doesn’t read well at all.

God it really doesn’t. I would have bet that Jones was notably less over the past 5 seasons. Damn.

Ok yeah we don’t learn our lessons. If he plays consistently and well then we won’t sell him and if he doesn’t we won’t be able to get a decent fee so the extension is useless that way.

Meh

Does he have to appear a minimum of five times per season....big ask

Jones has played more games per season in his United career than Bailly.

Why anyone thinks that Bailly isn't just as injury prone as Jones is beyond me.

You have to ask yourself why?

How did the club come to the conclusion of.. extending his contract another 3 years was a good idea?

He's barely played for the club.

Find someone else... for fack sake.

I also think that this means there is little chance of Judge buying another CB this summer.
