@cfbayern reveals in his new book 'Transfer Insider' how close Bayern were to signing Erling Haaland
"It's Sunday, March 7, 2021, when [Mino] Raiola's phone rings. The agent knows the number and answers - "We need to talk!", Hasan Salihamidžić begins the conversation. It's been less than 24 hours since Erling Haaland and Dortmund lost 4-2 to FC Bayern
Dortmund were already aware that Haaland will not fulfill his contract, which runs until June 30, 2024. He has a release clause that BVB had to grant to agent Raiola when they signed the striker from Salzburg for €20 million. Amount of the release clause: €60 million
Raiola listens carefully to what Salihamidžić has to say. Haaland would visit him at home. Raiola gave Haaland precise directions. They read: Salihamidžić's property in the Munich district of Harlaching. Haaland drives to Brazzo's house and finds himself face to face with the Bayern sporting director. "I like the house. I'd like to have it," Haaland tells Brazzo, before adding, "But for free!"
The cheeky remark breaks the ice between the two. Haaland is impressed by how the Bayern management is acting as a team. They show him how the club is planning for him and how they intend to build the team around him. He is THE player of FC Bayern's sporting future, they told him. Bayern will go beyond the limit financially to sign him, something never before seen in the club's history. The words had an impact on Haaland
Then Raiola picks up the phone. He tells Salihamidžić: "You've convinced the boy! Now we need to talk about money." - The agent tells him about the demands. Salihamidžić tells Raiola that he needs to consult with the boards in Munich. He can never decide on such a sum on his own
After a few weeks, Bayern contacted Raiola: They had prepared an offer. Raiola then boarded a jet and flew to Munich for negotiations. The agent tells the Bayern delegation that the Haalands are genuinely interested. Then he listens to what Salihamidžić has to say. While Bayern can't pay as high a salary as Premier League clubs, team Haaland is assured that father and son will receive a generous share of any future record sale
Raiola wasn't just holding talks with Bayern. Together with Haaland's father Alfie, he was traveling halfway across Europe to listen to offers from clubs.
Raiola calls FC Bayern: "The transfer won't happen. What I can tell you is that you were top of the list for a long time, from a sporting perspective. You had the best arguments. But financially, you were outbid."

Bayern might have been a better move for him way City are going, but he’ll always have treble
Bayern made a bid for Franculino that was rejected this summer too, wasn’t expecting them or Ligue 2 clubs to be holding out for big big money

Community Shield
Man City v Leicester
It shows the strength and depth of these to clubs, putting out such quality young sides is a testiment to the hard work both managers do.
Similar formations lining up man for man, this is a very tough one to call
A slow start however as they feel each other out, chances created but neither coming to a goal, it did tho in 37 mins when Baleba got possession after a misplaced pass fro L.Hall, quickly to Paz then Doue, he drilled in a low ball, Endrick nipped in ahead of Jacquet and dinked it into the back of the net, it remained 1-0 City till the break.
Second half Leicester came out all guns blazing and equalised early, Delap smashing in from a great cross from Diao, he rose above Huijsen and go perfect connection with his head.
The game went on numerous chances created but neither team took advantage from the good play.
Final whistle went and the game went to penalties

European Super Cup
Man City v Brentford
Plaudits already given to the City line up as they dont change a winning team going with youth again, Brentford have sold there top earners over the summer to balance the books, some questioned wether Welshy was mentally stable but he proved his doubters wrong, a nice looking team here, very exciting line up!
Right from the off the big man was causing Mosquera and Huijsen problems and an early goal much deserved went to Brentford, Stiller with a free kick into the box, no one was beating Woltemade and in it goes 1-0 Brentford, they contained the lightning quick City attack very well, composed at the back, Marquinhos is an excellent signing. City did get on top near the end of the second half, but misfiring Endrick didnt look at the races.
Second half started as the first ended, City on top Endrick fluffing his lines, but they persevered, however it just wasnt his day, Verbruggen in top form too which didnt help. Brentford were holding on subs made but it was Welshys troops who went 2 up, Uzun with a fantastic through ball, Woltemade isnt just a big lump up front, he took a great touch round Mosquera, back of the net 2-0 to Brentford!!!
Tab and City really pushed on and they did get a goal back, Ekitike finishing off a really nice City move involving 7 of the out field players, but in the end it was just too late
