He’s only doing because he doesn’t feel capable of breaking into the England side, which is worrying as a United fan to be honest.

The scenes when DR Congo also have four right-backs ahead of him.

They just hired Hector Cuper as the new manager. And apparently he's the one who convinced AWB to join the congolese side.

Jeez, why bother, I’d rather just not have an international career.

Not much different from playing for England then , eh?

Didn't look like it to be fair.

good choice, it's not like he's missed a great deal given England is crap in the international game

Put it this way ... He's joined a team who have more international honours in football than us. And that's a fact!

Don't blame him. Let's be honest we aren't winning anything until Southgate leaves and I can't see that happening anytime soon.

Walker is 31 and trippier 30 so he’d only have to wait a year or two to get in the squad. Pretty poor that he’s not willing to wait and fight for his place in the meantime and says a bit about his character really. Ultimately his decision though.

He obviously wants to be more than just a squad player and as it stands southgate clearly dosent rate him.

I'm not an international standard footballer but I do find this a bit strange (unless he feels very close to his Congolese heritage).

I also qualify for England and Germany but would only play for Wales as I don't feel English or German.*

*This is in a parallel universe of course where Wales wouldn't want me and England and Germany would!

Agreed.

Ridiculous decision really, considering two of the squad are of an age that they won’t both be around the squad by the next Euros tournament in 3 years.

Shows me he lacks a fighting spirit.

Zaha is an example of a player making this sort of decision too early.

The one advantage of choosing England would have been he's pretty much guaranteed to play in the WC as the DRC haven't been in one since 1974 in Germany ( although they came very close for the last WC ).
But joining the DRC team , he's probably closer to winning a major tournament than England methinks

Not a loss for England

He's a really average footballer. Great 1 Vs 1 and that's it. Doesn't read danger. Isn't good positionally. Can't pass to save his life. Crossing isn't the best. Can't head.

He's not good enough for United or England. Won't achieve anything with players as limited as he is.

Basically my opinion to a T - I'm honestly bewildered when people tell me he's a fantastic player ... It's as if they don't watch him, or they close their eyes when he's on the ball.

Most people tend to over rate new signings and make them out to be better than they are.

He's been a very poor signing for what we paid. £50m for him was a robbery. I think he makes 80m for Maguire seem more reasonable.

One of the greatest footballers off / nowhere near the ball, a bambi on ice on the ball!

He hedged his bets. When his chances of England looked a bit limited chose elsewhere, not going to criticise him for that. Family may have put pressure too.

It’s like the opposite of Rice binning ireland when his form and teamates made him look better than he is, as soon as England came sniffing...rat up a drainpipe.

Can’t really blame either for the choices.,

That is not correct.

He feels he is better than all the other right backs and not being given a chance ahead of lesser players as he views it has led to frustration.

In Aaron's view, whenever he's talked about it's in references to his flaws with the fact that he's possibly the best 1v1 defender in the world being glossed over. For other players, their strengths are focused on and their drawbacks minimised for whatever reason. It would be very, very hard for someone to argue against this.

He spoke with Ole earlier in the month and Ole advised him to declare for Congo and show the England set up what theyve missed out on.

England ain't gonna miss much.
You must be another guy who doesn't watch awb or only watches highlights when he's making last ditch tackles.
