Shame about Greenwood

posted on 27/8/21

My name's The Post Nearly Man, and I like that line-up. I honestly believe the most important player there is Scott McTominay though. Without him it all turns to rat shiiit.

Feel free to disagree, obviously.

The league cup is his. He won’t play as much this season sadly. But I guess the club have gone for a more short term approach.

Greenwood will play plenty. Ole loves him and rightly so. He just won’t be made to play 50/60 games at that age like Rashford was by our management due to lack of other options.

My name's Pun and if I don't switch a lightbulb on and off seventeen times before I leave a room then my family will die. Decent lineup. Looks amazing with Ronaldo in it.

Not sure tbf.

Ronaldo will play every league game IMO
Sancho will start pretty much every game
Pogba will start pretty much every game.
Bruno will start pretty much every game.

I can’t see Greenwood starting more than 10 league games this season.

What's up, Tomkins?

Don’t care if we are a bit open in midfield.

Swap Fred for McT, his passing's sharper and more progressive. Like the line up though

Anyone reckon we’ll sell Martial before the window closes? Or loan him? He’s supposed to be a Glazer favourite but surely his days are numbered.

It’s not, though. That’s why I wouldn’t play him. McTominay’s better at carrying the ball than passing.

Tbf, Pogba tends to play better with McTominay than with Fred. Though he doesn’t play that much with Fred. But I do think the football we played in that game against Sevilla with Fred and Pogba in cm was probably the best football we’ve actually played under Ole.

Can't see a place for him. It's he better or more effective than Greenwood, Ronaldo, Cavani, Sancho or Rashford? Probably not. That makes him sixth choice, or seventh if we're playing Leeds.

Hi

I am Vidicschin.

Glad you are OK Robb. I thought you might have over done it when you went to crack one out seven hours ago.

I would go

DDG
AWB Varane Slabers Shaw
Mc T
Bruno. Pogba
Greenwood Ronaldo Sancho

Of course this will change by those games I am sure.

We must see different things. McT's all round game has improved out of sight in the last year. He also tends to look for the forward pass when he breaks up play.

I actually like Fred as well, but he's more careless with the ball

Mr Chin,

Just to clarify, I don’t see the Ronaldo signing as something we should have done from a ‘being a club with an intelligent plan going forwards’ and would gladly have not signed Ronaldo and trusted what we had and just gone balls out on Bissouma. That would IMO have been the right thing to do.

But life is short and it’s just fun, especially during a pandemic where fun has been in short supply to see this all happening. So trust me when I say we’re probably making the wrong choice in bringing in Ronaldo, but never has being wrong been so much fun.

Basketball stuff. You have a go then we'll have a go.

That line up would have been perfect if we had the DDG of four years ago.

But McTominay actually gives the ball away more than Fred. The problem with Fred is that he makes fack ups, and has games, where you wonder how he became a footballer. But he’s generally just sharper and more progressive with his passing than McTominay, and the stats will back that up. He’s also better at making himself available for the pass and will move it on in fewer touches than McTominay.

McTominay’s more positionally disciplined than Fred, however. And it acts as a better counterbalance to Pogba on the left side of cm - Fred and Pogba are both better on that side.

But that game against Sevilla is something I’d like to see more of. We ripped through their midfield with Fred and Pogba running rings around them. It was fun. I’d like some more fun football.
