How can you not have an expert accountant present when the only thing you are reviewing is an accounting principle??

Re Fin's comments, I did read the whole findings of the Independent Disciplinary Commission some months ago and while I cannot remember the exact detail of all of them the following have stuck in the mind: Derby were not found to have acted dishonestly and were not found to have acted in bad faith but the way the amortisations had been set out in the "offending" accounts was criticised but only for a lack of clarity. The Commission emphasised that Derby were not seeking to gain and had not gained any unfair advantage over any other club. It was decided that a fine of 100000 pounds was a fair penalty in the circumstances.

It was very clear to me that the representations of both sides had been put in very firm and carefully argued ways and all received fair and detailed consideration by the Commission.

However the club has since been ordered to resubmit accounts for the relevant years utilising the amortisation methods required by the EFL Regs and if it is true that a settlement is being negotiated it can only be on the basis that the revised accounts show breaches of the FFP rules. So a points deduction would seem to be inevitable. The Regs do allow for negotiation so as to save time and costs of a possible appeal and we can only hope that the deduction is not excessive. Personally I would be OK with a 6 point deduction which Sheff Wed received after their appeal.

Whether the EFL method of showing player value depreciation in accounts accords with normal accounting practices is open to doubt but unfortunately their Regs demand a different approach so that's an apparent end to it.

I wonder if this triggers the suspended points penalty for not paying player too, as the current owners will no longer be making those payments.

Yet some fans still blame the EFL and not Mel Morris

posted on 17/9/21

Mel Morris has been our own little Donald Trump for a while, can't see anything he does, no matter how wrong, as wrong, anything that is wrong is because of somebody or something else.

I still believe he could he got the other charge reduced to nothing, the admin here is more to do with the past catching up with us. Ludicrous arrogance throughout.

Villa sold the ground to themselves to allegedly circumvent FFP but got away with it because they beat Derby at Wembley - could easily be them facing a 21 point deduction and certain relegation to League One.

Wolves allegedly did their own creative accounting by paying huge bonuses instead of wages. The likes of Jota and Neves playing in the Championship whilst on £25k a week is a joke.

Then there's the dirty six. They all should have been banned for life, but weren't. It was promised instead that there would be a hefty punishment. Everybody assumed a huge points deduction but they ended up paying paltry fines. All six are merely regrouping behind the scenes so that when they do finally leave, it will happen in a moment and their Super League will be up and running the same week.

Then there's Wycombe, who would have stayed up had Derby been punished when they should have been. That puts to bed the argument that screams "What about the fans? It's them I feel sorry for"

No you don't. That goes for the authorities as well as fans of rival clubs. That's just the virtue signalling, hypocritical spirit of this age talking.

Anybody who is seriously affronted by the corruption in football should boycott the game entirely. No games, no social media, no SKY, no BT, no forums. Behave as if the game is dead to you.

But you won't...
