Jamie O'Hara is such a moron. He reckons that because he took Juve who finished 7th before he came in and Chelsea who finished 10th, he can suddenly do the same with us. That's just not possible. First of all, that Chelsea team had won the PL in 2015 - the 2016 10th position was just a capitulation under Jose. They were already a squad ready to challenge. Juve were still probably the biggest club in Italy at the time of his taking over. They invested heavily to precipitate that jump in league position.

Then there's the changing landscape of the PL since 2017. City are a much larger force. Liverpool are phenomenal. Both of those clubs weren't at the level they are now. Winning the league requires 90+ points these days. It will take a major overhaul of a squad that, in terms of quality, probably hover somewhere between 4th, 5th and 6th. It's a much bigger job than anything he's dealt with before. That said, anything will be an improvement and if any man can bully the board into investing, it's our nutcase Antonio.

1st team:

Royal Holjberg NDombele Reguilon

Lucas Kane Son

That’s if Conte plays 3-4-3

He’s never going to pick Skipp ahead of Holjberg in a million years

He's arguably a better pick than Hojbjerg for the deepest-lying midfield position, but neither is ideal. I think they're probably the two biggest losers under Conte since neither fits comfortably into his 3142 system. Hojbjerg MIGHT work in the midfield two but he's not really a natural progresser of the ball, either passing or dribbling.

I’m wondering if Conte is going to pick a weaker team for the Vitesse match... thus saving his strongest 11 for Sunday v Everton??

Our 2nd 11 is truly awful....

The likes of Doherty, Davies, Sanchez,Winks, Dele etc are liabilities... I’d be amazed if Conte can transform them into decent players...

Apparently if you drove past the training ground today you could hear Dier sobbing

That's it, I think Skipp, Winks, or Hjojberg are all in the mix for that DM/playmaker roll and it will be interesting to see who he goes with

Winks is the best natural fit but he's been so bad for so long that I wouldn't trust him to carry the half-time oranges.

Skipp at least has time to learn, and he's not a bad passer, but it's a huge responsibility on a kid to dictate the tempo of a top side. He has time to learn though, and you'd think Conte will earmark him for either the deep role or the box-to-box one early on and start working hard on developing him to fit one or the other.

Hojbjerg I'm less sure of. I feel like Conte may well play him to begin with because of a lack of other senior midfielders with any match fitness, but I don't think he fits either the playmaking or the box-to-box spot well. His passing just isn't good enough for either and he's a bit past the age where he's likely to make a significant developmental leap in that area. I think ultimately this is why he'll never be a truly top midfielder - he's decent at several things but not great at any.

Not sure why I said "he has time to learn" twice there

Lot of people talking abojt Brozovic and Skriniar but if we were to raid Inter I really really like Barella and his energy in midfield and late runs into the box are something we’ve been missing for ages, plus Conte really got the best out of him. Would love to see him at Spurs if the opportunity arose.

I doubt Barella would move until Spurs are back in the Champions League.

When you look at how Victor Moses was revived under Conte at Chelsea, then there is still hope for Doherty. Conte could get rid of him immediately leading to his revival at a Championship club.

As much as I rate Conte if he gets Conte playing the Tottenham training ground is going to become a place of religious pilgrimage for people wanting to see the site of a miracle.

I would play Conte over Doherty too.

I'll be amazed if he can make an instant impact on players like Winks, Dele and Doherty. If he can then wow! What a manager we have on our hands.

Obvious elephant in the room in that team selection. And no, I don't think I need to name him do I.
Looking forward to Conte raiding his old league for a decent CB to play alongside Romero.

Some fans have mentioned that Conte likes to play a
3-1-4-2 formation

Lloris

Tanganga Romero Dier

Holjberg
Royal NDombele Lo Celso Reguilon

Kane Son

On paper this team looks impressive, but... my concerns are with the centre backs, apart from Romero...none of the others are what I’d call reliable...

So, could we be looking for 2 more CBs

With Sanchez,Dier & Davies for sale

Assuming we keep Tanganga & Rodon, as they are young, with potential...

Yeah but to be fair about three days ago us managing to get Conte as our manager seemed pretty much impossible too.
