One consolation is that Atleti are exactly the kind of team that relishes nicking an away goal and hanging on while drawing on aggregate, and away goals no longer count.
Yeah.
Said after the first draw the only team that could've been worse was Atletico. Lo and behold...

Can someone get Red Russian to unfilter me on his article? I think he thought this was the actual culer account yesterday so filtered me/culer/not me/not culer?
Was thinking the same. Atlético is not easier than Psg. Probably even harder.
Often the key to beating low blocks is to force them into mistakes. With our better coordinated pressing, we should be prepared for such a team.
Does it really matter?
You can't even beat young boys ffs
Weird one I think.
Think we’ll struggle more to beat them, but also have less chance of getting a pasting off them?
They are 13 PTS behind a fairly ordinary Real Madrid team this season. They clearly aren't doing as well.
We just have to sit back and counter then sneak a win against all the odds

My alt accounts are
Atletico were woeful against us, certainly second leg.
If Ralf has you even slightly sorted by then you have a punchers chance.
Burnley have caused us problems over the years, so this shouldn’t be too different.
Feel for United and their fans.
Atletico are by some distance, THE most fecking depressing team in world football to play against.
Enjoy.😕
Its how you react to their dark arts. If they manage to frustrate you with the time wasting, play acting, ref moaning then they will get the upper hand.
Surprising they didn't really park the bus against us and we found space but in a 2 legged game it will be tactical and boring.
Not so bad of a draw. They have 2 more pts than United in LaLiga from the same number of games.
They will not press us high nor have the pace to run behind us.
The down side - 2 full games of theatrical acting and cheating, excellent drama team surrounding the ref - an opera team at its highest
Hey, we will pencil in Friday but may have to be Wednesday 22nd. Will check with work and let you know asap.
=======
Not sure that's true. In fact I can see Kemar causing AWB no end of problems.
Where they did cause us problems is the little diagonal between the CB and FB. Griezmann is fantastic at that movement, as are Suarez and Felix.
Oops, They will not press us high nor have the pace to run behind us.**

Haha, I'm disappointed you didn't have something much more compromising on your clipboard, Robbing!
They were awful at anfield and I know we beat them in madrid but after a sluggish start, they really had us on the rack until griezman was sent off. We were really stuggling to cope with them for that period.
They are a really good side, a bunch of cheating bar stewards but a good side nonetheless.

This means absolutely nothing.

Yes, but what about atletico?
They were discussing Atletico's capacity for antics on my favourite football podcast (Stadio / The Ringer) last week. They really nailed how deeply this ability to drag games into chaos is embedded in the DNA of Simeone's side, comparing it to Tom Sizemore's
"For me, the action is the juice" line in Heat.
I've always loved that film, and that line, and I have an inexplicable affection for Atletico, despite the fact, as jlou says, they're such an energy vampire of a team to watch.
