Not seen season 4. But Ozark is so good and has even surpassed Breaking Bad for me

That being said, Wyatt is the biggest criminal on the show (yuck!!). Sure, in a show with the likes of Omar, the Mob etc that is saying a lot.

FBI run him close 😉

Good show but overrated on JA606

It is good and has a good pace about it. Some great performances as well. Better depth than Breaking Bad for example, which is overhyped.

Yeh, I thought it was decent when I watched the first series, but felt it was a bit of a rip off of breaking bad. Which is probably why I didn't carry on watching when my missus lost interested. Maybe with the time that has elapsed the comparisons with BB won't be as obvious to me now.

I watched the first season of Ozark and was entertained but fairly underwhelmed, so I'm looking for someone to talk me into giving it a second chance. I guess my main reservations were:

- Hard to suspend disbelief because of certain plot developments and certain characters being a bit cartoonish.
- Wouldn't go as far to say it was trashy but a good three rungs below the quality of writing, craftsmanship in storytelling, and subtlety of characterisation of something like Better Call Saul.
- He's talented, but whenever I see Jason Bateman in something, I see Jason Bateman acting the way Jason Bateman acts rather than the character.

Was I unfair about it? Does it get better after season 1?

By the way, the actress who plays Ruth is real talent. Also features in The Americans (another show which to my mind is significantly better than Ozark).

Compared to what's on Netflix, which is 90% utter 5h1te, Ozark is superb. 🙂

Its a bit generic and predictable IMO.

More of a joyride than a real gangster show for me. I don't find it's plot and twists to be credible.

Agreed but it's definitely worth a watch.

They introduced a watered down version of Lalo Salamanca.

And the FBI arc is stupid

Jonah needs to fack off

Loved it!!

Jonah will end up kidnapped or even dead at some stage.

Finished S4 part 1 last night, avoided this thread as it was labelled as a spoiler thread so read through it now and there's no spoilers anyway

Enjoyed it, still a really good show in it's own right. People choosing to not watch it or not continue watching it purely because BB may be better are missing out on good TV.

It's a good show and entertaining but certainly not perfect. There are a lack of likeable characters, everybody swears too much, and it can be very unrealistic at times. I mean how did Darlene live so long? She killed a cartel boss's underling, shot the balls off a mob boss's son, killed that mob boss himself....her plot armour was amazingly strong. I'm still not convinced she's dead, and will somehow still be blowing people away with her shotgun in the next part too.
