Nearly lost to oil farmers.

Hi Supe,

Don't watch enough to be able to say, but I'd imagine the constant changes in the attacking line-up can't help.
I suppose that's partly been down to injuries, fixture congestion and the likes.

Yeah that maybe a factor although it's a squad game so there needs to be some rotation.

I think we miss Werner as well to an extent. Not the Werner that's crap in front of goal but the Werner that makes things happen and gives us attacking impetus. He's only playing in drips and drabs this season under Tuchel.

It's a shame that we haven't been allowed to see Lukaku and Werner form a partnership and understanding up front as I was quietly confident they would. Still am in fact.

Tuchel also mixes up attacking formations though, doesn't he?

Again, speaking without too much knowledge of the ins and outs, he seems a very tactics-oriented coach - which he's provided ample proof of being very good at.

I sense the issue might be that if that means he can't offer the players more stability, some of them might need a bit of an arm around the shoulder approach. A lot of people think players are too mollycoddled and it's absolutely true that some of them need tough love, but man management skills imply having a sixth sense for knowing what kind of treatment suits each personality. I obviously don't have a clue of what he's like behind closed doors, but he doesn't really come across as a warm character in public.

All that aside, what's the deal with Werner then? I thought he had fitness issues. I agree with you, even when he can't find the net his mobility is a headache for oppo defences and creates lots of openings for his teammates. If he did manage to find some goalscoring form he'd be one of the most feared fowrds in the PL.

Lukaku is a counter attacking striker and needs a Lautaro Martinez for the technical ability next to him.
Play Havetz and Lukaku close to eachother in a 352 and it might work.

Lukaku's movement is crap, he makes 1 run and then looks knackered. The top strikers make more than just a single run to create space.

Werner & Lukaku have played quite a few games together and it's been dreadful, both constantly offside and chasing after their own first touch.

We look a more cohesive unit with Havertz as the front man and there's a lot more fluidity between front men. The common problem is that whoever is played up front is wasteful in front of goal either in terms of decision making or finishing

You’ll look a lot better when Chillwell and James are fit. You could also do with a top class creative player behind the strikers too who can play a pass as I don’t think Mount or Ziyech are the very top bracket.

Agree with regards to James and Chilwell, it was clear that with them we're a different team. Our replacements do not have the same quality.

Ziyech was supposed to be the creative spark, he's improved recently but still erratic in performance. I still feel as a side we create enough chances, it's the finishing/decision making in the final 3rd which lets us down

James and Chilwell not playing has undoubtedly been a huge factor but it doesn't change the fact that our attacking line itself has lacked any kind of cohesion and they don't appear to know what the other is doing or going to do.

Tbf the attack was the least of our problems yesterday. That second half was Lampard's Chelsea where it seemed compactness was some kind of abstract concept to the midfield

Big up Kepa. Something happened yesterday, when their players took pot shots I wasn't flinching. Instinct doesn't lie, he's rebuilding confidence in me

Also that's where Jardim ended up then. Amazing how quickly things change in football

We should have offered Eriksson a 6-month contract instead of him wasting his time at Brentford

This. It was the same with Tammy.

For our style of play and the fact the opposition are camped in their box, we need a strong reactional striker. First touch is vital... and that ain't Lukaku
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Certainly wasn't Tammy either
