Peacock - 'Leeds fans a disgrace'

It probably was other fans as well. I don't understand their mentality, surely they're there to support whoever's playing for England even if he is one of the most annoying players in super league!!!!

We had loads of Hull fans, and KR, stood behind us booing. Was funny the first time, but embarrassing after a while.
It's clear what many fans think of Tomkins, but there's a time and a place.

Seems it was everyone but Leeds fans going off what Leeds fans are saying.

Jamie vision and hearing must be letting him down in his old age.

Leeds fans near me were booing, as were several Saints fans, Cas fans, Hull fans and even a couple of Giants fans. T'was just the Wire fans that weren't.

fans are just showing their disgust at the way he cheats his way thru games. must be difficult to put that sort of disgust aside , not even for international games.

There is no excuse for the booing, I guess it goes to show what utter (every word I add here is banned apparently) many people really are.

Ron, where exactly in any reply on here do Leeds fans say they were NOT doing it.

Your anti Leeds bias popping up there I feel.

Cheese, is he a cheat or does he just play the rules well, the guy is a winner and that is probably what upsets most fans rather than his professionalism, if he was playing for their club it would be a different story

posted on 12/6/11

no, he definitely engages in a bit of cheating. no doubt. i have no team allegiance so i come at this without any club bias.

i havent met any rugby league fan who says he hates tomkins cos hes a winner, just something i have never heard.

heard a few saying he a cheating basstard right enough.

Yes I have I like his talent though, he has a face you want to introduce to a sock with a snooker ball in which does not help either.

Although if you want your team to win booing any player can't really help and is bizarre.

we seem to do this in this country some how we dont like winners do we

I think you may find that JP didn't single out Leeds fans for criticism. How could anybody on the pitch know who was booing? It's just lazy reporting yet again. "Leeds fans a disgrace" - good headline, but he didn't say it.

so did he not say I am England first and Leeds Rhino's second then?

Tomkins said the reaction of the fans, took the shine off the occasion.

"It certainly has for me," he said. "It's just not nice and you don't expect it.

"I don't mind taking a bit of stick when you are playing at club level but, when you look at the most successful teams in rugby, they've got a quality fan base behind them.

"We definitely had some genuine fans there cheering for England and probably I was under a slight illusion that there would be more of them.

"But it's a bit of a joke when you're getting booed representing your country on English turf."

got to agree with Tomkins on that one but I'm sure it wasn't just Leeds fans booing...Warrington St Helens and just about every other club from Super League had fans at the game so to single out the Leeds fans is a tad unfair...but thats just the nature of sport it happens the lad should get a grip.

He did. Because he is a Rhino. He's talking about club before country, so of course he names his own club.
Some of us were there. Many Leeds fans were booing, and laughing about it. After the first, thousands were at it.
What they should have done is put Bailey in the squad. Divert a bit of attention.
If Sam writes this off as club rivalry, he's a fool. You don't get thousands of fans from different clubs doing this - ever.

I think it's jealousy more then anything and these supporters booing would be extatic if Tomkins was to join there respective clubs next year or after.

I think its more people dislike of his face and his antics than necessarily his ability..... there are better players in the league in my opinion, but I don't see the likes of Roby being booed.

its certainly not jealousy souths, he knows the answer to not getting booed as do the rest of us, stop being a cheating little sh*t, not hard really, play the game fair, use his ability and he wont get booed
