Paul thinks we will make 7 singings including back up GK. (I’d assume LWB, RWB, LCB, CM, CAM, ST
Bastoni is one that we really want, Brema also.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Honestly we should get both, we would have world class CB options to match the forward line. Get LWB and RWB right and add Eriksen and we are challenging for the league

It is tricky for us because we are fishing in the same pond as Liverpool, City, Chelsea, United.
You see what happened with Diaz, we did all the hard work and lost him in the 11th hour.
If a quality player thinks he has a chance to sign for these big clubs or others on the continent, we will not necessarily be able to attract them instantly because they can all match our wages etc.
At least now we have CL, Conte, some high profile WC players, amazing facilities and can offer high wages (not Man Utd high, but high enough) so should be able to get the players in that we want.
Also if Paratici has been showing an interest in players for a while, then this always helps.
Hopefully our current step up will allow us to make quicker decisions....but it is difficult because if our first choice target is making their mind up, how long do we give until we move on to 2nd or 3rd choice....or do we just wait for 1st choice and get a late deal and risk missing out. It aint easy, unless you are willing to throw stupid money at someone....and NDombele is the cautionary tale in that approach.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Personally I think we are more fishing in the same pond as teams like Atletico, Dortmund, Leverkusen, Roma, Napoli etc which isn’t a bad thing as all those clubs have shown over the years that there are great players to be had beyond just the moneyed names. Our problem is that we’ve forgotten how to do that or willingly tried to compete with the likes of Liverpool and city etc and only gotten our fingers burned. Ideally he’s we’d be competing for the elite players but realistically that’s not possible and the wrung below isn’t a bad one to be fishing for players, in fact if you know what your are doing you can end up with better signings than the bigger clubs.

Eriksen is an absolute no brainier for me even with his health issues. Proven Premier League player still at the prime of his powers, knows Conte well and available on a free and exactly the kind of player we are on the look out for in midfield. Just get it over the line.
In an ideal world we do and bring in Both Bastoni and Bremer but let’s see.
One thing to note, Paul doesn’t think that we will land either Jesus or Sterling. Jesus will likely go to Arsenal for first team football and sterling will wait to go on a free. Also feels that city won’t want to deal with us.

We did sign Bentancur and Kulu towards the end of the Jan window. Some might say they are bargins..
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I wouldn't classify either one as a bargain. We got Bentancur for the price Juve were asking him not for a knock down rate as we went in late in the window. Same with Kulu. Yes he represents great value for money but we got him at the going rate. Seems like a bargain now because of his performances but thats with hindsight. I think our last great bargain signing was Hoijberg who we got much cheaper than the market rate because of his contract and he was a pretty early summer signing if I can remember.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bentancur cost £16m plus £5m in add ons. That's a bargin.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Its certainly a fantastic deal, my point being though that don't think the price would have been different had we signed him 1 January or 31 January. That was the same rate Juve were asking from Villa in mid Jan so I agree with Gil that the end of the transfer window does often represent a false economy.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We defo took advantage of Juve's own financial crisis along with helping them buying Vlahovic. But had they not brought Vlahovic they would not have sold the two players we brought. Both are bargins and officially were brought at the end of the window.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think you are slightly missing the point I’m making or I’m not making it all that well, but in any case the one thing I think most of us can agree on is that this summer more than ever our signings need to be through the door as early as possible.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Kulu is a bad example because our main target was Diaz and that deal was seemingly agreed before we lost him to Liverpool and then moved for Kulusevski.
I think you also have to take media reports on asking prices with a pinch of salt.
SS reported a Villa £16.5m bid for Bentancur with £4m add-ons, rejected. We agreed £1m more on both parts. So Juve clearly had their price they wanted. Whether that was higher on 1st Jan, who knows....but we had to meet their expectations...although in the current market it is a bargain even if we didnt haggle them down.

Can’t say I’m too bothered about either, they are good players but neither play in priority strengthening positions this summer.
We score enough goals, but we concede too many and we don’t control games - CB, WB and CM is where the surgery needs to take place
Agreed Strike. Would absolutely love a boss man midfielder that’s comfortable on the ball and can dictate play. Someone with a key eye for a pass forward also.
Wing backs seem to be difficult and we need to ensure home grown quota is met

Times reporting that we are interested in Bissouma .
He's got a year left on his contract so £30m could be enough.
Would be a great addition!
I’d absolutely love Bissouma. He always dictates games and is PL proven. 25 years old at £30m is a bargain.
Not heard about him from any of the “trusted” sources but would be very happy if it were to happen.

Would love him, with Eriksen. Buy 2 of Raum, Kostic and Spence for the WB. Maybe Bellotti to back up Kane and add Bastoni and Bremer - that team could compete on all fronts.
The issue with Bissouma is the police investigation against him. Does anyone know if it’s still ongoing and if so the fact it could go to trial would completely derail us.
No idea ABC. How long do investigations take!?
Would be such a great signing.
Who cares about his investigation. Brighton don't and they have been playing him. He has been playing well. Probably some bint who is trying to make a few quid of him or was rejected. As long as he has a decent lawyer he should be ok.
Totally agree, Last Minute Levy needs to change his miserly and tight arst ways
Kulu is an example of missing out on a first choice target and ending up with the better player and deal.
All the early evidence suggests that Kulu is better suited to the PL than Diaz, he is stronger, better defensively and is producing better numbers. Diaz looks better technically, but has less end product, is too lightweight and produces a lot of fancy looking skills for less results.
Of course, the media will laud Diaz until the cows come home though, as he plays for their darlings.
