He’ll probably go to Chelsea now
I feel like it would be more fun now to get Neves and Tielemans, partner them with Eriksen/Bruno, and laugh at Barca being unable to register Raphina and Lewandowski, plus whoever else they sign.
Can see it all going tiiiits up and City getting him in some swap deal with B Silva…
Why does he have to take a wage cut and give up the 15m he is owed to stay at Barca?

Neves reminds me of Scholes. The problem is the Scholes he reminds me of is the one who came out of retirement and had zero mobility. I don't see how he would fit into a team who is trying to press. I also just don't think he influences games enough full stop.
Tielemans is a more mobile player, so would be a better option imo. The only thing I'd worry about is he does have a tendency to go missing in games at times and has just come off the back of a wretched season

Part of me almost wants us to sign Neves just so that people understand how average he is away from the MOTD highlights. I cannot believe how often his name gets thrown about.
4 years after Wolves were promoted he is still there...no disrespect to Wolves but there's a reason for that.

And does what Laporte say have so much sway that it trumps a legally binding contract in court?

This!
FDJ has a contract with Barca till 2026 (I think) he doesn’t have to give anything up. In turn he could end up as being to Barca what Bale became to Madrid but if he wants to stay in Barcelona then it’s up to him!

Obviously I was working on the basis the player didn’t want to waste a year or 2 of his career
The longer this saga goes on, the more likely Ball-ache & the rest of the Barça media puppets will turn on FDJ, making him the scapegoat for everything going wrong there.
I can also seeing the fans turning on him if his staying stops Barça from registering one of their new signings.
Also, why are players even signing for Barça knowing they can't be registered?
Did nobody take any notice of the Messi saga last season?
