Evening View 🥃
Let's get it out of the way, u21s had their best result of the season tonight, losing 2-1 away to WBA.
Any other football on tonight ?
Our successful teams in the past have all had a great balance in midfield, whether it's with two or three players: McGovern, Gemmill and Durban; Van der Laan and Powell; Oakley, Pearson and David Jones; Thorne, Hughes and Bryson. Very different types of players, but complementing each other. We haven't got that right so far but surely with Bird, Hourihane, Knight, Smith, Thompson, Sibley, and maybe Rooney to choose from we should be able to find a combination that clicks. I would be really surprised if we were to go again with Bird and Hourihane alone. I want Knight in there and would be prepared to take a bit of a risk on Oduroh to make it happen, but Rosenior doesn't seem to think that way - he mentioned Smith and even Chesters as potential right backs ahead of Oduroh in his interview.
My Wycombe-supporting colleague says they are entirely a long-ball team who generally get about 30% possession in games. So we need to win second balls and Knight is the terrier we want for that job.
Wildsmith
IOduroh Davies Cashin Forsyth
Bird
Mendez-Laing Knight Hourihane Barkhuizen
Collins
If Rosenior doesn’t start thinking outside the box and realise that tippy tappy does not work in this league, it could adious as quick as welcome Liam.
The natives are getting restless it feels.

It's not Rosenoir thinking outside the box we need it's our forwards scoring inside the box. Any hopes that Collins's goal against Plymouth would take the pressure off him have soon been dispelled,
Dispelled because he didn’t score in the next game? That’s harsh. I thought he was our best player on Tuesday.

I really hope our new owner possesses a different level of integrity from the last one and infinitely more than the Forest Chaiman. Otherwise, its back to square 1.
Cheers View.
It was said in the previous match Collins got very little in terms of creativity so it'd be difficult to get off the mark but easy to be criticised for it.
Wycombe, Wycombe, ah Wycombe. Once regarded as this soft, cuddly team that you want to see do alright, think back to the 90s and their rise through the divisions. Martin O'Neil was gaffer and they had players such as Steve Guppy in the side.
Having had a quick look back on their history it will surprise you that from 1990 to present they've only had eleven managers including O'Neil, John Gregory, Lawrie Sanchez, Tony Adams (yup that T Adams, I don't recall that stint either), Paul Lambert and since 2012 Gareth Ainsworth. Since 1990 to present we've had 200 managers, majority under Mel Morris to get us to the holy land.
(We've gone through a total of 19 coaches/managers in that time)
So the rivalry between these two clubs is obvious, generated by the American owners at WW ( fack American owners or wannabe owners in the case of Chris Kirchner! ) Their owner won't be coming to the match tomorrow which will be a good thing, but we do need to control our own fans oddly who are baying for blood via the pitch tomorrow.
This week has seen a heavy analysis on social media regarding our' RB position', 'midfield', 'midfield balance', 'tactics', 'Bird is sh*t', 'Hourihane is sh*t due to his current position', well someone just HAS to be the fall guy now that Lawrence has gone and criticising Forsyth just doesn't hold the same weight anymore!
Tactics - do we go three at the back or three in midfield?
For those that missed RD moan in, the representative for Wycombe via the phone call did indicate to a route one style of play. (Vidal has also referred to it.) It was also said that in recent times the more direct approach has brought success in this division and playing the free flowing style of football not as much. To counter that conversation Bolton Wanderers were mentioned and that they play a passing game that has taken time to reap benefits.
I don't think too much needs to change for our home games, providing the crowd keeps the 'togetherness' (another word I noticed a few times on social media.) Away from home is our problem. The return of Korey Smith and Chester would certainly aid the defence and midfield balance. Do we need more senior pros for the type of games we're currently encountering away (Shrewsbury, Lincoln,Charlton) ? Could the inclusion of Forsyth, McGoldrick, Barkhuizen a double pivot DM screen of Bird and Knight help us? With our loanees on the bench to add pace in the second half when we've shown to fade away?
Although they offer different qualities, could McGoldrick, Sibley and Hourihane actually hold the key to our team shape and success?
Here's hoping for a good game, a great result as LR certainly deserves it to take off some of that heat.
Will Collins score a brace so that Spart has to eat humble pie for a week?

Super post Desi and well thought out, problem seems to be the powers that be again don’t do or have a plan B.
As for Spart only pie he has consists of sweet or savoury, humble is way too sour for him.
Morning all, Morning View. MATCH DAY !!!
3 point beckons...but only if we sort out midfield... UTR. Cheers Terry
Mornin’ y’all
Morning Terry
MATCH DAY!!!!!!
11 year anniversary of Ten Men Day. What a day that was. It meant nothing in the wide scheme of things, but one of my favourite ever games, maybe only surpassed by Bramall Lane in 1987.
Good mourning all. Last home game we emulated Forest. Will we do it again?.
Will James Collins continue with his attempt to make Conor Sammon look prolific?
Will our left side defenders go AWOL sometime during the second half?
Will Cashin avoid giving the ball to the Wycombe forwards?
Will we have Stevie Wonder as one of the referee's assistants?
Will the fans sing a song about a patriotic song about a Jewish deity preserving the life of the descendant of minor German aristocrats.
Not going today because I don't want to have a minutes silence to show respect for someone I have never met and of whom I have no respect..
You’re a miserable old bu88er Spart and that’s saying something coming from me.

Not a hypocrite or a sycophant though.
If you object to the minutes silence, just wait outside and go in at 15:01.
I hardly thing you’ll miss any goals….
And I respect you for that Spart. I’m no monarchist but I don’t feel strongly enough about it to miss a game and I don’t mind being silent for a minute before I start on the lino.
Talking of linos, I’m sure the ones on Tuesday were aldermen of Lincoln!

Based on your predictive skills in Banno's league that probably means we will score in the first minute.
