Feeling for the Rangers fans today after last night's mauling

meh its the reality of the situation.
our objective was to qualify for the CL and bank all that money, anything else was a bonus.
I briefly had some belief prior to kick off seeing Liverpool start a changed squad. We started well and got ourselves ahead and everything was going amazing. We gave up what I felt was an avoidable goal and heads dropped. Goldson injury was pretty devastating too and showed how much he does in organising our line. Got out of hand by the end and no doubt I'll be talking to a professional one day and pointing to body parts on a doll about where the bad man Salah hurt me

It’s not a disgrace to not be at that standard for a Scottish club. Everything is against us or certainly has been with the amount of pre qualification games we have had to endure so early in our season.
That’s the standard for me.
And I’ve never said we aren’t in any competitions we are actually in. That’s just madness to think that.

thast cos it is the first you have heard it ... you just made it up.
I quite clearly have stated multiple times that Gio has two objectives for this season. Qualify for champ league and win the league. Anything additional to this is a bonus.
and yes your correct the narrative for this season is different to last season. mainly cos it was impossible for gio to qualify for champ league last season.

tbf your understanding of the term is logical both descriptions are logical IMO , i dont agree with it however. but the term is open to interpretation so neither of us can categorically say the other is wrong in this regards.

ps my stance has always been that at home we can be competitive with champions league teams.
we are capable of getting points at home IMO.
for eg from pot 3 i think its possible to take points at home against any of them. Dortmund self explanatory, Sporting Lisbon we have beaten quite a few otther Portugues teams of similar level, Benfica self explanatory, Leverkusen and Salzburg are beatable at home IMO. again we might not be favourites but are defo more than capable of beating these teams, Frankfurt and Porto, Leipzig. again the games are tough but it is without doubt possible to beat these teams IMO.
getting drawn with the dutch champions, the best form team in Italy (and favourites for seria A IMO) Napoli and 3/5 champ league finalist Liverpool, means nae chance.
hearing that Goldson has torn his quad. could be out til March/ April at least..... If thats the case then celtic are firmly favourites for the league now IMO.

As for us not being in a competition we are clearly involved in, that’s a nonsense. Not sure we’ll influence it much other than help the others goal differences.
Think we may have a shot at taking something from Shakhtar but it’s too little and too late.

First I’ve heard or read that qualifying for the CL was the target and anything else was a bonus.
That wasn’t the narrative about Europe during the EL run last season.
On another note, there’s a report saying that Ben Davies now has an injury as well.

thast cos it is the first you have heard it ... you just made it up.
I quite clearly have stated multiple times that Gio has two objectives for this season. Qualify for champ league and win the league. Anything additional to this is a bonus.
and yes your correct the narrative for this season is different to last season. mainly cos it was impossible for gio to qualify for champ league last season.

To be at a “standard” I’d suggest you are at a level of consistency to have a reasonably level of qualifying to enter in the first place and from there to have a “mid chance” (50%) chance of progression as in being in the top 2.
It’s not a disgrace to not be at that standard for a Scottish club. Everything is against us or certainly has been with the amount of pre qualification games we have had to endure so early in our season.
That’s the standard for me.
And I’ve never said we aren’t in any competitions we are actually in. That’s just madness to think that.

tbf your understanding of the term is logical both descriptions are logical IMO , i dont agree with it however. but the term is open to interpretation so neither of us can categorically say the other is wrong in this regards.

No, you’re fine. You’ll know better than me where and when you’ve said it-especially if it was multiple times. No reason to disbelieve you-just can’t remember that being the line said before.
Just seems totally at odds with a lot of the comments I have read, especially over the last few days about beating CL standard teams in the EL run last season.

ps my stance has always been that at home we can be competitive with champions league teams.
we are capable of getting points at home IMO.
for eg from pot 3 i think its possible to take points at home against any of them. Dortmund self explanatory, Sporting Lisbon we have beaten quite a few otther Portugues teams of similar level, Benfica self explanatory, Leverkusen and Salzburg are beatable at home IMO. again we might not be favourites but are defo more than capable of beating these teams, Frankfurt and Porto, Leipzig. again the games are tough but it is without doubt possible to beat these teams IMO.
getting drawn with the dutch champions, the best form team in Italy (and favourites for seria A IMO) Napoli and 3/5 champ league finalist Liverpool, means nae chance.
