I doubt Scotland, Sweden, Greece, Serbia, Netherlands etc etc are going to see or feel any benefit.
Boo hoo English teams have more money than France, Italy, Germany and Spain.
If it was about fairness then all TV money generated by UEFA affiliated countries would go into a big pot and would be equally divided between the 55 FA'S but there is as much chance of that happening as me suddenly growing another few inches on my wee fella.

"Newly promoted Nottingham Forest’s net spend of €160 million was more than the whole of Serie A, La Liga, the Bundesliga and Ligue 1 (a total of 78 clubs) combined"

Find that hard to believe. Yes I understand the point they are making .... EPL has become too powerful and financially dwarfs the other main European Leagues.

Need to back this up with facts......the Forest one is hard to believe......

That’s not the point I was making. And if the attitude remains of “boo hoo”, then you’re right; nothing will change.

For my belief, I think it will. It’ll take time of course

What's the benefit to the other 50 countries outside the TV superpowers?

posted on 20/10/22

European competition would be far better* with the old 3 foreigner rule, wage caps, spending caps etc. But it will never happen.
Also, didn't see the same energy when Spanish clubs dominated in the 00s, or Italian clubs in the 90s.
Cycles happen in football, it isn't the fault of English clubs that the likes of Barca and Juventus have fallen off.

A much more interesting and varied level of competition to watch. More often than not the European competitions in the latter stages resemble the top of the EPL.

Perhaps more “home grown” players instead of the “easier” route of paying out tens of millions for players from all other countries. I may be wrong but I think the EPL has the lowest number (per capita) of players from their own country in the first teams that take the field. Is that good for the national game?

A better distribution of wealth even if only for a few countries to start with should soon tumble its way down I’d hope

Am I really reading an article about "an interesting and more varied competition" by one of the Old Firm teams' supporters?!

I don't watch the Champions League and I wouldn't watch the European Super League.

I would genuinely rather watch a match between two B teams playing in the Scottish Challenge Cup than watch a Super League game. And everyone knows how I feel about B teams competing in that competition.

Agreed.

FFP is a farce, is it even properly enforced?

Completely missing the point and an amazing contribution

Thanks

-------
World cup semi final and first ever euro final suggests yes!
You could argue that having fewer homegrown players means the pool is smaller but of a higher quality

A wider distribution of the wealth and the standard of player that could be bought or developed?

Yes. As do many other huge clubs in Europe.

To a degree. The Glasgow domination is driven by support revenue so we benefit purely from the geography though there's the whole religious scheite that drives some of that.

The EPL is a manufactured league. Manufactured by Sky for global TV revenue containing teams many of which are manufactured by investment purely to rip cash from Asian and other 'customers'. I don't blame any parties - it is just business. Blame lies with the regulators who let it get away from them then joined in.

But that wouldn’t happen. Did you not pay any attention to what the Super League was actually proposing? It wasn’t proposing a better distribution of wealth (unless you are stupid enough to believe in trickle down economics). It wanted to increase the wealth and condense it in fewer hands.

I know Tories tend to fall for these lies, but the Super League weren’t even trying to hide it.

And, FWIW, those with a long'ish memory might recall I was almost a lone voice on the whole of JA welcoming the super league as an opportunity creator for my club.

So now you’re bringing politics into what was a discussion about a super league.

Seriously; well done. Amazing stuff

EPL is a joke lets be honest.

look at forrest this year, thats absurd and reckless.

Seemed relevant to mention it because it explains your complete misunderstanding of what the Super League is.

Of course it did. Get a grip.

All I’ve done is copy an article and believe it’s about time too. Then put it up for discussion.

No politics. Nothing. Get a grip

The motive is still the same. Unless you think Perez, Laporta and Agnelli have woken up in upside down world.

Seems like he’s more interested in checking up on my political leanings than actually engaging in what was meant to be a decent discussion.

Couldn’t even be bothered to find out about his political leanings.

Ok. Enough. There are plenty of political threads to go to.
