BBC are a joke. They claim to be against Qatar hosting but have sent all the production team to Doha spending license payers money on tickets, hotel, food and TV studio when they could have just done it all back in Salford on a green screen.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
are you planning on not tuning in to watch any of it then?
Seem a bit contradictory to blame the BBC for going out there and putting it on the tv but then being one fo the ones that sits down to watch it.
A lot of people are happy to slaughter the Qatari's for this world cup.
but will als be the ones justifying it going ahead by tuning in
The point for me is that there is a FIFA sanctioned punishment for protest at all.

It's not justifying them going though, I'd still tune in if they green screened the studio like they did for some of the olympics.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
We all konw fifa are kants. But a protest imo has value when there is something to lose. Which in this case there clearly is. But as soon as a threat of a card cane into play the protest ended.
So that just tells you how serious they really think about these issues.

I don't understand why protest has more value when there is something to lose myself.
In reality FIFA are not letting them wear an arm band, it shouldn'teven be seen as a protest. Why? What's wrong with it? What's the actual problem? Why is there even a punishment?

I can completely understand and mostly agree with the people saying it shouldnt go ahead, but if these people truly believe that then they will boycott the whole thing.
But the reality is like the vast vast majority. I dont really care enough to stop me watching it.

We should be proud of our lot for even trying. I'm not saying get the bunting out but at least they've attempted it. The FA have already said they'll cover any fine but it's a football tournament so I can see why bookings have shut it down (which is why FIFA will have sanctioned it).

If as a nation we are so against it we should not even be there. Cracks me up when people like Alex Scott trying to justify why she is there. We all know why. Materiality or own needs will most time win over genuine beliefs. Hence I believe this is all faux outrage. Just my opinion
The England team should wear it, the game we invented should be fully inclusive and as a powerful and well established nation we should have the guts to just do it and set a precedent for the rest to follow.
If we do it I bet you the Germans do and the US, Dutch, French, etc.
Then what will FIFA do, book everyone so the final is played between Qatar and the Brazil B team
In fact, the only thing that I feel would be more honourable at this stage than England wearing the rainbow is if we wore a sign stating “stick FIFA up your aerse”

Why deal in absolutes like that? We think that making homosexulaity illegal is bad, they don't so we highlighted it a lot.
That's what peaceful protest is, not marginalising ourselves so we don't have even a presence there.

Seem a bit contradictory to blame the BBC for going out there and putting it on the tv but then being one fo the ones that sits down to watch it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm not against Qatar hosting it. They paid what they had to. More against the contradiction.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree.
I can completely understand and mostly agree with the people saying it shouldnt go ahead, but if these people truly believe that then they will boycott the whole thing.
But the reality is like the vast vast majority. I dont really care enough to stop me watching it.
Society wants us all to call them out and shout from the rafters how it shouldnt be.... as we all tune in and support our team that is happy enough to be part of t all.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well said.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agreed.

The point for me is that there is a FIFA sanctioned punishment for protest at all.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We all konw fifa are kants. But a protest imo has value when there is something to lose. Which in this case there clearly is. But as soon as a threat of a card cane into play the protest ended.
So that just tells you how serious they really think about these issues.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't understand why protest has more value when there is something to lose myself.
In reality FIFA are not letting them wear an arm band, it shouldn'teven be seen as a protest. Why? What's wrong with it? What's the actual problem? Why is there even a punishment?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Because it has shown perfectly it takes more courage to protest when there is something at stake. Doing it when you know there is no repercussion imo is an empty gesture
But I agree re your points re Fifa that they should not have this stupid punishment.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So rather than focus on what you have decided is faux outrage I think we should be on the case of FIFA who yet again are displaying that their moral compass points firmly to the bin.
We should be proud of our lot for even trying. I'm not saying get the bunting out but at least they've attempted it. The FA have already said they'll cover any fine but it's a football tournament so I can see why bookings have shut it down (which is why FIFA will have sanctioned it).
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If as a nation we are so against it we should not even be there.

Yeah England have schat it.
The point should be more important than a yellow card .If you can stand up for LGBTQRBS community for fear of a yellow card then you never really wanted to.

Why deal in absolutes like that? We think that making homosexulaity illegal is bad, they don't so we highlighted it a lot.
That's what peaceful protest is, not marginalising ourselves so we don't have even a presence there.
