I would like him to replace Lloris at Spurs. Think he's a great keeper!

posted on 15/12/22

Wouldn't surprise me if Barca went for him, if they can afford him. But I don't rate ter Stegen.

He’s a brilliant keeper

Arsenal absolutely fooked that one up.

Genuinely in the top 5 keepers around at the moment.

He's class. Really didn't want him to leave, as he showed he was better than Leno when he got a run of games.

I guess having a 95% chance of starting wasn't good enough for Mr Martinez though.

Having said that, he's not as great as people make out. Makes his fair share of mistakes too.

He wanted to leave, we needed he money. Not much choice really

Another legacy on the line this Sunday.

Imagine if Martinez goes from Arsenal squad dead wood to World Champion & Copa America Champion?!

And he’ll likely win the WC Golden Gloves to add to the Copa Golden Gloves he already won. He’ll probably then win the Yashin Award for goalie of the year.

At age 27 he was a nobody, 3rd choice goalie for an upper mid table PL ball club.

If (big IF) he wins the Cup, then at age 30 he’d be one of the greatest goalkeepers of all-time.

Legacy on the line 🤣🤣🤣
Can become one of the greatest of all time based on one game? 🤣🤣🤣🤣

You laugh but legacies are determined by international tournaments, especially World Cups.

Zidane is considered a top 10 or top 5 player ever, based on just a handful of performances for France.

The Argentina fans would put him on a pedestal if he wins them the Cup.

He would then be considered one of the best ever (especially among South American keepers).

Yeah, Zidane career at the likes of Juventus and Real Madrid is meaningless 😂😂
Lev Yashin was forgotten about almost before he retired and never mentioned in best keeper of all time debates.
The first name thrown out when talking GOAT keepers is almost always Pumido, whereas Oliver Kahn is never given a second thought in the top 30.

Didn’t Zidane do alright in a Champions League final once? Maybe if he had scored a better goal he might get some recognition

Sad that George Best never left a legacy.

Yeah he has that goal as well, but 90 pct of his legacy is based on France games

He did leave a legacy but imagine if Best had won a World Cup or Euros?

Best is a Top 50 player ever for sure, but Garrincha is Top 10 (imo 5th) and what divides them is Garrincha’s World Cup exploits

If he won a World Cup if would have been a miracle with the team NI had. If Emi wins one it won't be a massive surprise. If Lloris ends his career with 2 World Cup wins it won't change my opinion on his ability and move him up above Buffon or Kahn or Yashin.
Giroud doesn't suddenly get rated above Weah, Shearer, Kane, Batistuta, Lewandowski, Eto'o etc - never mind getting put in with the likes of Ronaldo, van Basten, Muller.

Really?

Well it should. I mean if say a sprinter won 2 Olympic Golds in the 100m dash at back to back Games, it wouldn’t make him one of the best to ever do it?

Why would 1 game change my opinion on someone who has played about 900 games?

posted on 17/12/22

Because not all games are created equal.

Tomorrow is probably the single biggest game in pro football history.

posted on 17/12/22

Why is it bigger than the final 4 years ago, or 8 years ago...etc

What if Lloris makes another howler, like he did in the 2018 win?

Tbf if they’re 4-1 up at the time, it doesn’t mean anything. That was just him messing around because the game was iced.

This is the biggest game ever because there’s so much on the line beyond the title itself…

- GOAT status for Messi
- Possible future GOAT status for Mbappe
- The last chance to end the Messi-Ronaldo debate after 15 years (if Messi loses, that debate will never be settled)
- France’s chance to repeat as World Champs, never been done in the modern era
- Golden Boot, Golden Ball, Ballon d’Or & FIFA POTY all on the line for Messi/Mbappe

Thank fack I was born in the 20th century. Would hate for all that shiiit to be relevant to a World Cup final.

Looking back at Emi's time at Arsenal, what I'd really like to know, is how much assurance he was given that he would be Arsenal's number one.
