I think you guys are overreacting, getting rid of kane and son? ludicrous. You showed that you could be decent in the second half, need to sort out the defence and tweak the system.

Don’t think Lenglet has been that bad. Good squad player

we were not decent in the second half. the game was done so you sat back and we pumped the ball into the box and got some half chances. it never felt like for a second we were getting back into the game

sure but I think that applies for Davies too and we don't need two backup LCBs. so we need to not retain one and sign a new starter

As for the OP, keeping 7, benching 4 - that means ins of at around 15 players to make a squad which isn't happening unless you are Forrest.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's almost like that's the point of the article, huh
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Begs the question what's the point cos its not happnin'?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The point is, is that we’re in a dire mess. Whilst it’s not realistic it shows how far we falling when key area aren’t addressed window after window.

A start would be 3+ ins and outs this window. Followed by 5-6 in the summer. That could get us competing with work still to be done

----------------------------------------------------------------------
The mess is only relative. Relative to your closest foes. It is mental to me that CL money seems to influence so much fan opinion when it is fractional. Build a legacy vision, ideology, path. Won't always succeed but keep faith.

Reality is with average contracts <3yrs and squads 25-30 you get high turnover / contract renewal every year anyway. Embrace!

Big clubs just cut their losses on the dross they sign, Levy however, demands most of his money back, hence why our surplus players are harder to shift than a post mutton madras skid mark.

Our recruitment went down the drain after Paul Mitchell walked out, he got fed up with Levy`s medalling and felt he could no longer work for Spurs. Ever since it has been one expensive mistake after another.

Tbh I like Paratici. Think he’s made some good buys and don’t forget that he started building for Nuno who when got fired and conte didn’t want anyone.

He then also buys young talent as per ENIC’s requests but then conte doesn’t want that either.

There is no alignment between the club, DOF and Manager.

IF ENIC stay then we need a project manager. Someone like Poch who wants to play attractive, football and develop young talent. If then he is also backed with quality then it could be a success.

The three have to be in sync and on the same wavelength though.

Right now it’s a mess

Also why is there not a single murmur of sales, loans or purchases? You’d think we would be busy.

Bet you it’s an underwhelming window with one maybe two players out, likely on loan

posted on 16/1/23

I think paraticis player recruitment seems pretty good but there's still clearly a lack of joined up thinking at the top. we went from interviewing ten hag and potter, modern attacking managers, to hiring Nuno and Conte. he is now in charge of footballing operations so that falls on him now.

I disagree, you were back in it.

even if that was true it doesn't excuse that we've played shiiit in nearly every game this season. it's not like today was a fluke

posted on 16/1/23

Are you sure thats the players and not the system? As I say going by today it seemed more like your players just were out of sorts than lacking ability

posted on 16/1/23

oh yeah I totally agree. I want Conte gone

posted on 16/1/23

Just saying because I've seen us run over sides this season and we definitely don't tend to sit back in the second half.

I’m still wondering why Spurs fans are so optimistic about Bissouma.

He was never going to be a natural fit for Spurs, tactically or culturally; and that’s beyond being overhyped before and when he was signed. And unsurprisingly, I haven’t seen or read about an outstanding performance all season.

Reminds me of Herrera at United. Fans absolutely desperate to see a particular signing, who has come from a very specific, carefully regimented and pretty unique system, single-handedly transform a completely different kind of midfield setup, and that just doesn’t happen.

I said in the summer (and wasn’t remotely alone in this) that Richarlison would prove to be a far more astute and more influential signing.

This despite the message from Levy that we were looking to go back to playing an attacking brand of football again. Hmmm.

It tells me there isn't much planning in place. Even now with Conte, they bring someone with a winning record on board but feel half-committed to backing him. Can't help but think what might have been if we had appointed ETH, who was deemed not good enough at the interview stage.

Richarlison been next to useless this season too. 2 goals all season (both in CL). Why the fack we spent 50-60m on him and not a key position, says it all really. And thats what some fans who hate enic the most don’t get, they are crap yes, but we have spent some money in the last year, just badly once again

posted on 16/1/23

Yes the first half was disappointing.
We gave them a goal. And pretty much played the game in our own half. Can't possibly win doing that!

The second half was how we should have played BOTH halves. Had we played both halves as we can, we could well have won the match.

I do not understand why we seem to play bad first halves. Is it Conte? Or is it the players?
If some players are not entirely match fit, (Richarlison, Perisic) why not play them first half, and at least try to get a lead?
Also, we really do seem to have bought some duds, like Bissouma and Sessignon.

Finally some of the players must be thinking, "what the hell am I doing in this squad?"....like Kane and Romero. Romero at least has a World Cup winner's medal. Kane has nothing and deserves something.

Final thought: we did not have to lose this match, had we played both halves like we played the second!

Bad squad for sure. You have bad players who are basically cancerous and seen off previous managers like Dier, Lloris, Sanchez and Davies.

You only need or two to bring the rest of the squad down.

Between them they take it turns to fak up. I'm surprised Lloris has gotten off so lightly after yday but then again I'm not because he frauded so many Spurs fans over the years.

Loris was a fine goalkeeper for many years

He should of been replaced three years ago

Unfortunately our chairman thinks he can get away with signing players like spence instead

Regardless if he should have been replaced three years ago you cannot give any more excuses for him.

We have all seen him make a worldie save but at the same time he has been flakey for years.

Even when he first came to the club he had a few shakey moments then settled under Poch.

He has now become a cancer to the club in the same way Dier, Sanchez, Davies and Daniel Levy are.

I’m agreeing with you

The fact the players you mention are still in our first team after so many years of failure is down to one man.

Levy now being shown up by our arch rivals, who spent and backed their manager every season since they appointed him.
