What would be the point of just buying trophies like Chelsea and Man City. Have you actually forgotten that football is still a sport, and should be treated as such.
Where is the kudos is saying spend a billion to guarantee a trophy? Completely pointless and would prove nothing. And would just leave a stain on the club.

There was a FFP a whilst back that said we could spend something like £400 million and still be within FFP, shows the club is profiting and not investing.
They're the sort of answers you'd expect from a board that values profit over on-field success. Everything seemingly hunky dory.
If they could at least acknowledge the abysmal lack of silverware over all these years and that they're aiming to put that right, it would be a start.

Everybody else is doing it, look at what Woolwich are spending, United, Pool, they all out spend us, especially on wages, and it will be Newcastle next.
Why not join them, if its the only way to win then so be it, there would plenty of kudos beating the likes of City and Chelsea to trophies when they have bottomless pockets.

Unfortunately Billy is right about the money angle. Welcome to Professional Sports, 2021!
Now the other side of this argument is Levy's attitude to it all. He is on record as saying the price of players and their wages are out of control, and he refuses to play in that market. Instead he goes for last minute bargains, and bargains to death many good deals.
But then he goes the other way and spends a Billion on renovating the stadium!
That's a contradiction.
Frankly, Levy & ENIC treat football as an income making investment. And Lewis is clearly not interested in putting any of his billions into upgrading the squad.
All of this is illustrated by the club's recent response to the fan's accusations of their miserliness.
Fans who want to cheer Tottenham Hotspur through thick and thin, and see them win some silverware, had better pray that they will live to see the end of ENIC's and Levy's association with this club.
The saddest thing in my humble opinion is that Harry Kane may well end up being the best footballer of all time never to have won anything.
