"It is understandable that some fans call for more spending, much of which is unsustainable for many clubs.
=============================
This chairman did not spend 2 consecutive seasons at the height of Spurs best runs in the history of PL, and he is playing this down with fans wanting spending?
He should have backed Poch and not gone 2 seasons without any backing. Criminal and an act that would get other chairmen out. Frankly, Spurs fans are way too soft or gullible.
Levy has made us into a sleek business, but fns want a club that is successful on the pitch?
The stadium is shiny and good, but the side is still nowhere near top when it was near the top with the old stadium, so why change it?
Just a businessman with little knowledge of football. As such her should retire. No Trophy ins over a decade - for a football club chairman with shiny toilet bowl, he should have ashamed of himself. Very poor returns.
Sorry Sandy, for me this club should be run as a FOOTBALL club first, not a business. Trophies, where are they?
Apologies, for typos -- having breakfast and typing ain't my forte

They are not all doped. Spurs earn every penny they make from running the club properly.
As I said last night, he was perfectly happy to sell Kyle Walker to Man City for £50m
All this is, is Levy getting his excuses in for why we cannot compete - yet we have grossly misspent over the past 4 years because of his failure to commit to a faaacking strategy.
What strategy is there in going from Poch, to Jose to Nuno to Conte in a short space of time? - what does changing managers so often mean - Square players in round player holes, meaning constant over hauling of the squad.
Meanwhile, City stick with Pep, Liverpool with Klopp, Arsenal with Arteta. United have had only Ole and now ETH in that period.
We’ve gone down the pound shop Chelsea route and the results speak for themselves - yes Chelsea are struggling this season but they won the CL a couple of years ago

I think some on here are moving away from the article. This article is about a Chairman calling out others for distorting the market. Not really about Spurs. More to do with the completely unlevel playing field that the financially doped have created.
That is why the rules around finance and FFP will be massively changing in a couple of years. Makes complete sense.

Oh yeah I remember all the Poch out chants
I remember how we were desperate for Jose to be sacked 6 days before the league cup final
He didn't say anyone was financially doped 😂
He said a couple of clubs blow the market out of perspective but bar City, who else is being investigated for ffp breaches? No one.
You desperately want to suggest he implied Chelsea have done something untoward but they haven't. They complied with ffp rules and have spent within their means.
Levy is just defending himself against the fans critical of his investment in the team. He explained he has spent 500m recently and is a bit annoyed Chelsea spending over half that in a window, has angered some of his owns fans.
Chelsea is a billionaires hobby/play thing whilst Levy runs Spurs as a business and always will. He did also explain that Spurs are hindered by the fact they have invested badly, and they need to shift those flops. That is a valid point tbh.
How can Chelsea have spent within their means? Have they earnt the £600 million they have spent the past six months? I don't think so.

Yes they are
A convenient excuse for Levy. City and Chelsea have certainly distorted prices that is true, but we have still failed in the market by missing out on deals that should have been got over the line, and by bad recruitment.
If Leicester have managed to win a PL and an FA Cup in the last 10 years, I feel there is little sympathy for Spurs not being more successful. Even Liverpool managed to build a very successful team in this era when they were behind us 5 years ago.

Stick to the article Strike, and stop waffling on about Levy out chants. I think we exhausted that last night.

All pl teams are financially doped. Some more than others. They’re hardly all innocent
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They are not all doped. Spurs earn every penny they make from running the club properly.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And some pennies are spent on players
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Spurs have spent £200 million this season to keep within the rules of FFP.
Given you were running the club, Spurs would go bankrupt within a season with your reckless spend, spend, spend philosophy.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No, we lurched from Poch, to Jose to Nuno to Conte in 3 seasons - No joined up thinking, that’s my complaint.
Lack of strategy old bean
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Maybe the fans had something to do with wanting the managers changed every five minutes. Like some want Conte and Levy out now.
Hopefully Levy won't buckle this time, and stick with Conte.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
and we could have won the cl a couple of years ago if the players had turned up
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah if Sissoko and Winks had turned up
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well they turned up enough to get Spurs to the final, so you have to ask yourself why they couldn't turn up for a final.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Christ, we used years worth of luck in the QF and SF - Winks was very good against City - Sissoko did nothing
