Distraction of Europa...

If Kiwior doesn't at least pick up some minutes in the Europa, barring injuries, it's hard to imagine where he'd get his chance this season.

Having said that, Arteta probably won't want to / shouldn't change things round too much.

Tierney and Xhaka to start, I'd reckon. Maybe Tomi too. Reiss or Emile to replace Leo...

Actually, that would already be quite a few changes!

Risks a situation where Kiwior has to make a debut in a key PL game if Arteta doesn't blood him in the Europa, but equally Arteta won't want to disrupt the partnership. Tough choice (Holding will probably start instead 😂)

Only realised this morning you are 14 points ahead of United and they only have 2 games in hand. Not that I ever thought they were in the title race but if they lose to Liverpool today surely that’s that them in terms of getting into the Top 2 as Gary Neville seems to think that’s where they will end.

The challenge for United regarding their pursuit of the league, mathematically it may seem possible but their biggest challenge is the number of games they have whilst in 3 competitons.

It’s physically impossible to go all the way with so many games.

I would rotate where ever possible that game yesterday will have taken a lot out of them physically and mentally. We are at the point where any little mistake could cost us dear. We need players as fresh as possible in both mind and body when we play Fulham which will be a tough one.

Nketiah should be fit for the next game, shouldn't he?
Seems Trossard may be out for some time, given how he pulled up.

Our squad seems a tad disadvantaged against City given their depth of quality and ability to rotate. Look at Foden coming in to have a couple of blinders after several weeks on the bench. Some tired minds and legs out there among our regular starters.

The Trossard and Eddie injures have really hampered us. I doubt Eddie will be fit for the next 2 games and trossard is probably out for 4-6 weeks

What is Trossards injury, Castor?

Turner
Tomi Kiwior Gabriel Tierney
Jorginho Xhaka
Nelson Vieira ESR
Martinelli

If Nketiah is available, have him come on for ESR at 60 mins and switch positions with Martinelli

Odegaard for Martinelli in 70th

If I was in Arteta's shoes I'd rest most of my first team in Europa. When are you ever going to get a chance this good to win the league again? Might be more than a decade away who knows.

I think ETH will take it more seriously as realistically we aren't really in the title race. We need a lot of results to go our way if we are being honest.

To be fair Man Utd have the easiest run in and Man City were 8 points back with 6 games to play and were ahead on goal difference with 2 games to play in 2012. If Man Utd win there last 14 games like Man City did in 18/19 season then we could scrape the league I think.

Now that is very unlikely but we shall see.

Arteta doesn’t usually rotate much, but he may be more tempted to now given couple players are picking up injuries, and because we should be pretty much guaranteed champions league football next season. So the insensitive to win Europa isn’t quite as attractive as it was earlier in the season. Also given city will want to go far in CL, we may want to take advantage of not having a big mid week distraction.

I don’t think we’ll play kiwor yet, maybe in second leg if we get a good win. Probably see turner, Tomi and tierney start, jorginho in for partey, Xhaka will probably play as he was rested yesterday, so maybe viera for odegaard. Given Trossard and nketiah injury, we’re likely to see saka and Martinelli play, then either smith Rowe or Nelson will start.

Yes, you’re now going to have to say if you win your last 13 games. 👀😎

Nope title over. De Gea is useless. When you think of it, it is a miracle we are comfortable in 3rd. I will take 3rd and 3 trophies.

You're going to make two copies of the League Cup ?

No we are due another FA Cup and Europa League.

I've always been told players prefer playing matches than training. So I don't believe its a distraction at all. In fact I suspect players enjoy the slightly slower pace, less physicality to regain fitness and improve tactics.

When are we ever going to get a chance like this again? Quite possibly at least once more in the coming years, given the general trajectory of the team under this manager. Of course there are a tonne of variables, and I could be wrong, but you can’t deny that that’s what the evidence suggests.

Good grief. Yeah, let's not train at all & play every day then - not a problem...🤦‍♂️

Being facetious doesn't change the premise. Players will tell you they want to play. They would play every game if allowed to do so. However the coaches manage fitness very closely. Fans get their knickers in a twist. Arteta does not.
