I find it difficult to have interest in the seniors. I guess it's nice to see the old guard play, but it just doesn't do it for me. It was good to see a new world champion, will be interesting to see how Brecel manages next season. Good chat

The standard in the seniors isn't great but some of the matches are okay.
Yes it will be good to see how Luca does next season

I'd win the seniors 😂👏

Judd might look at Luca, & think, I want that back! When the Crucible comes around next year it will be 5 years since Judd became world champion.. Does that player exist anymore?

I hope Judd will be back, he needs a 2nd world title asap. It would be horrible for a player like him to only be a 1 time world champion.

Worse for Robbo, he's 41!

Need to know some facts about the World Snooker Championship if anyone know

I know that best of 35 finals started in 1980 and best of 33 semi finals started in 1997

But does anyone know when they started to play 17 frames on the 1st day of the final. Was it 2010 or 2011? That's when I remember it

Also there was a period (in the late 2000s) when the final on both days the afternoon session started at 3pm and the evening sessions started at 8pm which led to a lot of really late finishes. Does anyone know what exact years this phase started and ended?

I'm pretty sure it was 2011 when they played 17 frames on the 1st day of the final. That was the year when the afternoon session was changed to 2pm and evening session was 7pm.
I'm not 100% certain when the afternoon session changed to 1pm though. I feel it may have been 2015 and 2016.

In fact 2020 the afternoon sessions for the world final were played at 1:30 pm. That was of course the year the world championship was played in August.
It was 2021 when afternoon sessions for the world final were moved to 1pm. I always feel like it was a lot earlier then that but apparently not.

Yes I'm pretty sure the Doot Ebdon in 2006 and Selby-Higgins in 2007 finshed later than the 1985 final, but were shorter finals but were only later due to the fact that the final session started at 8pm. Although the Dott Ebdon final felt like it would longer than the rest of the tournament.

I also thought that 1:30pm finals were played earlier maybe from 2016 onwards.

I was never a huge fan of the afternoon sessions starting at 3pm and evening sessions starting at 8pm so I am glad they made those changes.
I'm not sure which I prefer out of 1pm and 2pm.

Yes I really hated the 3pm and 8pm

2pm and 7pm would be ideal for me

Another question... In 1991, Parrott lead White 7-0, when did that change to 8?

Seniors on.. Lee walker in trouble v Gérard Greene

Walker out, Tony Knowles v Mark Davis at 9pm

I'm not too sure about when they changed it to 8 frames

Mark Davis should win comfortably.

He should, Knowles wasn't due to be playing, don't know who he's replaced....

Mark Davis wins 3-0

I'd have beaten Knowles... 😉

I remember Ebdon led Hendry 4-3 after the 1st session in 1996, so I will assume it changed to 8 frames in the first session in 1997, the same year they changed the semis to best of 33.

It was 1997, I've just found the full match on YouTube, & after frame 7 at 5-2 to Ken, Referee Alan Chamberlain tells Stephen there is another frame to play.... 👏
