Definitely 2 months too late. The jeopardy of who we get in now to come.

Pearson on a short term save us contract and then plan properly for the summer?

Would take Hassenhuttl personally but he’s not a rescue job.

Someone who will make best use of the squad to come in now and salvaged the season. Anybody will be better than Rodger at this stage

Let’s hope the caretaker/new manager sticks with Iversen.

Lampard the early favourite with the bookies, apparently. Sigh.

He played well yesterday (from what I heard on the radio) but City should have kept tabs on that lad in goal for Walsall when we played them in the Cup.

Viera or pochetino please.

I think Fat Sam might be the wiser choice for the very short term.

Well it’s good news but far far too late and so we really trust Top and the board to get the next appointment right? I think they’ll go for Lampard - that’s how daft they are. Regardless the long term future of the club looks very unstable under Top and I won’t be happy until he sells the club and we can truly rebuild

For now we need to avoid Lampard, get a reaction and stay in the division to avoid financial Armageddon. Then maybe in the summer the club can make a sensible decision for once, appoint someone half decent and get external investment

Please God no. He is perhaps the one person I would prefer to keep Rodgers over. He is a parasite who destroys everything he touches and his brand of football is soul destroying. No self respecting club should be looking at Sam Allardyce to be their manager. His little money grabbing stint at England should be enough to make him ineligible to manage in this country again.

It will be Lampard. Top is THAT stupid

Let's try someone with a fight in him cos it's now a sprint not marathon. I wouldn't mind Pearson for now. And we'll definitely bring back Albrighton and Hamza back for the fight

I feel very sad at this news. Shows a completely useless management. He should have been sacked on 19 September, not waiting until there are only 10 games left and we fall into the drop zone before taking action.

Will they get someone in or make one of the coaching team caretaker?

Lampard - God no!
Sam - probably his time as a manager has passed.
Pearson - probably his time as an LCFC manager has passed. He does have some knowledge of the club however which might be a help, although much has changed since he was last in charge.

The best short term option would probably be Benitez. I can't say he'd be my own personal cup of tea but he's probably the best of the firefighters that are available.

For longer term options, I would happily take Gerrard, Vieira or Hasenhuttl over Lampard. Carrick would be an interesting choice if Boro don't come up and we manage to survive.

Any talk of Pearson is purely driven by nostalgia, unfortunately. Nothing he has done since leaving us suggest he should be anywhere near the running. King Power sacked him from our sister club a few years ago!

Interestingly, Lampard not mentioned in latest betting odds as per the Independent, although worryingly, Scott Parker listed at 16/1.
Benitez 4/1, Frank 5/1, Postecoglou 17/2, Bielsa and Pochettino both 10/1.
Fat Sam not mentioned either!

Should add that my personal choice would be Thomas Frank. Unfortunately I see no reason why he would leave Brentford to join us.

I also wonder whether Rodgers’ departure might have any bearing on those players who have so far declined to sign new contracts up to now.

Pearson would get the fight going for the last 10 games. He did it at Southampton and did it at Leicester. He would be no good after that but as a short term do or die option until the end of the season I wouldn’t be against it at all.

Gerrard would be hopeless and is completely inexperienced. Hassenhuttl hardly pulled up any trees at Southampton and I wouldn’t want Carrick

I think Vincent Komoany could be an interesting choice but don’t think he would leave Burnley - that’s how bad we are right now. We could try and hang on to get Potter when he’s binned off. Bielsa would be a return to the Ranieri high press style of the title winning season so I wouldn’t be against that. Benitez would be fine as well

The issue the club now has is that we’ve waited until we’ve become an unappealing option for decent managers. Tough times

Other than Amartey - no. Soyuncu has already signed an agreement with Atletico and Tielemans wouldnt be seen dead in a Leicester shirt next season

Pearson is as good as any as a short term rescue package but nothing more.

Please no to Lampard, Gerrard, Viera or any other decent player terrible manager type appointment.

Frank, Hassenhuttl are the types of names I like if (big if) we manage to stay up but no point trying to get someone like that now. Unless we think Hassenhuttl would be able to get the players sorted quickly. I feel his style of football would take longer to embed though.

We just need someone to organise a defence and enable our talented midfield/forward line to actually create chances. Benitez might abe a sensible short term appointment.

Benitez would be a safe option although the football would likely be terrible.
Frank would be good but little chance of him leaving the Bees.
Bielsa would be an interesting choice. He might not keep us up but it would be fun.
Potter is another interesting shout for next season - he is probably close to the boot after yesterday's dismal showing, but the club can't afford to wait until Chelsea act.
Gerrard - no thanks.
Kompany - why would he leave Burnley at this point for a basket case like us?
Hassenhuttl would at least have some experience with a relegation scrap but I'm not convinced.
Postecoglou - risky, maybe OK as a punt for next season.
Parker - hell no!
Dyche - perfect fit for our current situation. Oh wait, our inept management waited too long to get him!

By the way how utterly stupid is our board - we’ve made the sacking AFTER an international break 😂😂😂 could have had someone in place for the palace game

Yes,should have happened weeks ago, think Top finally realised that fans had turned against Rodgers and that atmosphere would be toxic on Tuesday ,and they would turn on him which would be very worrying especially on anniversary of his father's birthday..
Still handled very badly and far too late.
