Because the media / Nigel Farage has persuaded lots of people that asylum seekers are people to be feared and hated… rapists, murderers, freeloaders etc.

The fact that the truth is nowhere close to that is neither here nor there, apparently.

The ‘us and them’ stage of fascism is well and truly under way.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I think we all need to be honest enough to admit that inevitably, there will be bad apples amongst these groups, like any other group.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

But if it’s proportionate then it’s not relevant.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Hmmmm. Not sure about that. Would you welcome dozens of 'murderers, rapists or freeloaders' yo your local area because there are already some within the indigenous population?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

But you’re saying it’s no different whether asylum seekers or UK nationals move to the area, so it’s irrelevant.

No, because It's not inevitable that 300-400 UK nationals will move here In place of the asylum seekers due to be placed here.

Id be very interested to hear from the guy who said a similar situation arose in his area 👍🏻

There you go, you've just stated the outcome of the social impact of high levels of immigration, massive amounts of friction and not just here.

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/sweden-failed-integration-immigrants-gang-violence-b2067626.html

Lots of rhetoric, moralising, and demonising on here but never any solutions.

Something similar happened not far from me, and it didn’t end well. Diafol would confirm also, I’m sure.

Hi Babyen. Do you mean the Hilton in Dolgarrog? If you went by the likes of North Wales Live and Wales Online then you'd think people were horrified but, to be honest, the vast majority of people I know in that area (I'm around 12 miles away) didn't seem to be that bothered. That's not to say some weren't bothered of course but the mood on the ground wasn't as bad in my experience as what the media would have us believe.

Local schools had a load of trouble with that one.

What I wouldn't do is deny thousands of men, women and children the chance to build a good life simply because a dozen among them might be prone to criminal behaviour, something that's natural amongst any group of human beings.

It's like how there will always be racists in society, but you can't treat a whole group of people differently just because some among them might be racist. I hate stereotypes.

Oooh, local schools had some trouble? Whatever shall we do?!?!? We are so sorry about that. How dare they!!!

How many houses and schools did Turkey, Kenya, South Africa and many other countries across the world have before having absolutely no choice but to take in millions of refugees from neighbouring countries on their third world budgets, and don't half moan as much as we do?

And who bears responsibility for the current global refugee crisis, cost of food, fuel etc? It's the same guy that's moaning the loudest about immigrants and asylum seekers. Guess it's OK to sell bombs, invade and sabotage other countries and rob the world blind of it's resources, but can't handle 50k immigration a year.

The koksuckers.

Let's instead vote for Boris Johnson who will take away trade and job opportunities and financial aid that we give to poor countries that are constantly taking in refugees from crisis that can often be linked back to us.

Genius koksuckers

Of course it is.

Where there’s housing / accommodation, there will be people. The shortage guarantees that.

So you had to work long and hard to get to a level where an immigrant can just come in from a war torn country and immediately take your job from you?

Makes sense.

Hotel down the road from me is used to house refugees. Often cut through the grounds. The people you see just look miserable and bored. Not aware that they have ever caused anyone problems.

Didn't hear that. What kind of trouble did they get? Hopefully not too bad. Apart from the usual stirring from the usual suspects I didn't hear anything bad.

I go back to my first post. The governments role is to provide housing, education and health care for all. I doesn't.
Of course refugees should be allowed here, and we should have some spare capacity to look after them.
What's proposed here is unfair on local people, and therefore the immigrants who aren't going to be welcomed
