Strong rumours about Mason Mount

If we saying not to judge Mount on his performances this year then we could say thst about fabinho snd people are clamouring to dump him.

I think even 40 mil is too much for him.

He’s better than every single one of your midfielders. He’s had a bad season, he’s been burnt out. He will be back.

You would not regret signing him and I hope you don’t.

The fact that he gets on the pitch already makes him an improvement on Ox and Keita

Hopefully he can be the next Salah, KDB who progressed to world class after leaving Chelsea

Mount would be an upgrade on Elliott, Jones and Henderson in that left or right half space.

30-40m would be a good price for him.

If we play a 4-2-3-1 formation i think he would be great in the center of the 3. He has an eye for goal and timing for getting in the right place at the right time.

Playing in a 3 in the middle, i have doubts he is strong enough.

As a wide forward, we have better options.

None of us know what Klopp has in mind for next season, formation wise. Hell, TAA has been playing like a sweeper/box to box player recently whilst technically been at RB.

In the system we're now playing, he would work in it. Plus we need a couple of HG players in, for next season. I reckon he'd be a good signing for under £50m.

He'll never be a wide forward under Klopp.

Will be the line breaking midfielder

Wouldn't rule it out - Ox has played wide forward at time though more through necessity.

I think Mount is flexible enough to play a few positions, which Klopp likes. Also think Mount could be an astute buy for us

Yeah, and as TOOR has pointed out we need players that qualify as homegrown so why not Mount?

Mount would either be the next delle alli or the next klopp super star.

really it's one or the other.

this guy is a pressing machine. always has been for chelsea. that's what klopp wants in a player and really its down to that.

a player that would suit klopp. and tbh the comment above on better than Elliott, Jones and Henderson at 33 makes sense.

the only question is why chelsea think an injury prone but rapid James is worth 250k a week but mount who is fairly reliable is not so they decide to drop him.

Was going to say I don't think this is likely but it's apparently been about three years since Alli fell-out with Mourinho, which is roughly when he was 24 (as Mount is now). Surprised me, I thought Alli fell-off at a younger age

That said, I think at worst Mount would become an effective utility player for us like Milner but with Oxlade-Chamberlain's ability (though I would expect him to become a starter for us)

if we do get Mount at the suggested £40m mark, then id say its worth a go. Has a good skill set for an attack minded mf.
Gravenberc was excellent at ajax, but hasnt been given an opportunity in germany. at 20 and under Klopp, id bet we have a winner there.
My main concern is Fabinho. His form began a decline well before the end of last season. his role is critical in our usual tactics. So id like a ready made replacement to be brought in and learn the role....
unless that plan is Bajcetic? but id say hes more of a no8 in the gini role

this is the thing.

bajcetic is a cb at youth level upon arrival and now a no 6 and then moved to lcm

all the links we have fall into two buckets.

attacking cms who have some value

or

defensive midfielders who are vastly over our budget based on Bellingham. caicedo and rice links for example when we can't afford Bellingham

klopp just played trent at no 6 in possession beside fabinho and konate at rb/rcb.

realistically this system is borrowing a player in possession and depends on us not being cut apart in transition to defending. the gaps between the "back 3" are massive.

could be a case of buying a right full and just play trent at 6.

what do we do with diaz, salah, nunez, gakpo, jota, Elliott, carvalho in a 433 when we could go 4231.

Mount makes more sense thinking about that 4231 as well.

thoughts about trent plus macallister as twin 6s? Mount salah and diaz, wider and nunez at the top.

Nunez vs Gakpo at the top? Not an easy decision but a good problem to have. At the moment I'm leaning towards Gakpo. Both can do the job up top or on the left, but I feel Nunez can do a better job out wide than Gakpo whereas Gakpo can do a better job than Nunez through the middle.
