I don’t think Levy needs to spend more, I think we need to spend better.

In fact, other than the defence, I would caution against spending to much this summer. We need the new man to get his feet under the table, establish who he wants and who he doesn’t and then start making waves in the market next summer.

I think the message against Levy is diluted when we talk about spending levels - fans always want more and Levy the last couple of years has delivered fair sums. The issue is, and this is what I would hammer him for, is that it mostly has all been wasted as we’re chopping and changing managers and styles more often than Maf changes his pants.

For instance, we have spent £135m on right and Left backs/wingbacks in transfer fees alone in the last 2 YEARS - that’s insane, we could have had Gvardiol, Bastoni and Skriniar for that much 2 years ago had Davies and Sess as the LB options and kept KWP to play on the right.

Levy has to get someone in who will define a faaacking strategy, like Brighton, so that we’re not making whole sale changes every other year and pizzing a load of money up the wall in the process
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Still didn’t properly strengthen a terrible defence. Lenglet on loan isn’t strengthening mate. It’s Levy cheapo alternative option when we needed a top CB. Now look where we are at defensively. It’s cost us Top 4.

Nothing new here is it. Maybe confirms a suspicion or two but if you're not convinced Levy is holding us back this won't change your mind.

I agree, but I just don’t think spending more money will resolve the issue - look at Chelsea.

Spending more money with a clear strategy that we stick to will bring results with it, that’s the way for us to proceed.

Any new man coming in now has to look at all these players including the loan army and see who he wants before we dive into the market - the exception being central defence where Sandy could turn up and be 4th choice

I wouldn't be surprised if we see the most backing We've ever seen in the next window. levy seems genuinely quite shaken by all the calls for his head, it's the most heat on him that I can remember
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I thought that in Mourinho’s first summer window.

And then again last summer with Conte.

Never happens.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah they seemed like decent windows on paper even though half (if not more) of those players have been flops so far. Still a disregard for certain areas in the squad and no continuation of the backing. Both were like half way attempts to back those managers.

This time we need to choose a manager we can feel confident will play the right style of football who won't walk out on us 2 seasons down the line, and back him from start to finish.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree 100%

But the problem we will have is, if the new manager comes in and does well - whilst feeling they have hit a glass ceiling - another bigger club will come in looking to pinch them.

Yet if they don’t hit the ground running, unease will grow and Levy will more than likely look to replace.

It’s a hard one. That’s why whoever the new manager is. It’s important a connection with the club and fans is built imo. Both Redknapp and Pochettino done this.

Well we can't and shouldn't worry about a manager getting pinched off us if he does well. That's just out of our control and I guess we should be pleased if they do well to begin with given what we've been subjected to lately.

Not hitting the ground running for a new manager is what any club that is going through the mire should expect. If they come in and start off amazingly it's a bonus. I think first season there should at least be some positive signs. Either way they have to be given a full season and see some of their own signings.

Yeah I get that. Exactly why it’s important though to get this appointment right. New name being mentioned is Xabi Alonso.

Yes but tht would be typical Levy spend now to quieten the fans and then in 2 years time interfere again. We need him out of the football side of the club full stop.

Having said that after seeing the Bale money wasted and so much spent on crap players or players we just did not need by managers I can see why Levy is hesitant.

Having said that if he stopped appointing unsuitable managers we might stand half a chance.
