Fair enough. We've never won the champs league though. This would be major trophy in our 26 trophy collection.

True.....my thinking is the prem is the toughest to win and imo the trueist test.

The Prem is the ultimate. But there's no feeling like winning a CL, that sh!!t makes you lose your mind

I suppose I should say with a level head then winning the PL should be the main objective every season. But winning the CL you temporarily go beserk if you do win it

Fair question, I grew up watching football when coverage of European comps was minimal at best even in the print media so a league win or a cup win was HUGE for us, since then its exploded European wise and became something we all look forward to so its way closer call for me now (not that we would win a European comp) but I still start the season praying for a league title

Europa - as route to champions league
Champions league as we’ve never won it prem tougher to win though

Any one of them should be the minimum all clubs are aiming for .

Premiere league, the cup's are often luck of the draw.

Conference (Should be every mid table English teams aim)

FA Cup (Europa is for those not good enough to win the big one)

Premier league (bread and butter)

For everyone saying leagues are harder to win why has every league winner in history, from any country in Europe, got less European Cups?

Genuine question.

A few comments from people saying the Prem is tougher to win than the CL. How is that being quantified?

Nottingham Forest are the exception.

They are different challenges. For the league you need to be more consistent against many teams you are clearly better than but will punish you if you drop your guard. With the CL it's less games but those games are almost always against elite teams bar the occasional minnow in the group stage. Personally I value winning a moderate amount of games against excellent teams above keeping your concentration against loads of small teams.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I agree. Not only that, if I was an elite team, I wouldn't want luck to come into it. The league gives you the opportunity to make up for mistake.

Overall though, the numbers speak for themselves. The European Cup is clearly harder to win.

Basic maths, innit.

20 teams in the PL, and 1 guaranteed winner - 5% chance.

32 teams in the CL, and 1 guarantees winner - (approx) 3.3% chance.

The CL is clearly easier to win than the PL. Look at Liveprool over the past couple of decades. Good side, not great. Won the CL twice but only the PL once. Because the PL is much tougher to win

The Europa was the UEFA Cup and that was always prestigious. Its been diluted by the fact that the UCL takes in teams from 3rd or 4th position and from some provincial european leagues.

I like the Europa because i think that latter stages can be just as exciting as the UCL and often more so because teams are more evenly matched.

That said the FA Cup is magic and i would love to see us win this again, and then i'd probably favour the Europa over it.

[1] Conference, both sub-standard but Carabao Cup is literally worthless in my eyes and shouldn't exist. Conference too probably

[2] FA Cup, best domestic cup in the world > second rate European trophy

[3] Champions League - tough call, i just think the prestige of the CL and the knockout run-in would be much more exciting (as we saw with our game vs. Ajax)

Personally

Conference, more interesting than the carling cup as people don't play it often
FA Still holds the same prestige of yesteryear for me
PL Nobody can say it was by luck

But objectively I think there's no clear winner in each category.
