As much as Sakala is a dud, 12 goals and 8 assists in 29 league games, only 22 starts is why he’s likely going for 4m!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If you do you're scouting on tm, aye.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

You’re right goals and assists don’t matter.

Bring back Ryan Kent.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well many fans were shouting for Sakala to replace him last year so I doubt that? Note I didn't say Sakala wasn't worth the rumoured 4m but same reason many fans commented on his offside awareness or ball control - none of all that stuff can be got from tm.

End of the day, players of both our teams look better than they might otherwise be. You either deploy what they have in your system that can overlook their deficiencies or you develop them to not have those deficiencies.

Maeda is never gonna be anything other than a presser. Kent could beat a man, beat another man and another but then run out of space or ideas or hit row Z. Sakala? Meh not watched him much. Probably more suited to a breakaway team but he's that bit younger so who knows?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sakala and Kent are both 26, Maeda is 25.

No I agree, can’t ever see Sakala ever developing those deficiencies enough. He’s a good squad player, busy, rapid and has end product.

The 4m is apparently Saudi money. I’d be happy keeping him as someone who’d be happy as a squad player that can make a difference but so frustrating to watch. I think he’d run riot in Saudi with his pace, as can’t imagine he’d be playing so many teams camped in their own half, and probably nice new big pitches everywhere

Easy to dismiss Saudi but their national team the only team to beat the World champs in the last 4 years remember!

I have. He’s shiite and he’s got a poove’s name.

Sakala is such a strange player. Produces stats that don't seem to match the eye test. He can go from pub league player on a jet pack to unstoppable. He often looks like he has no control of his body but can smash in a goal like the one at Tannadice where you think who's that guy?

Personally I wouldn't mind keeping him particularly with 5 subs and his pace being able to be a problem. But if 4m was on offer I think you have to accept before they change their mind.

Can understand the celtic lads on here maybe not keen on Tierney as he has a tendency for a few injuries .

Mctominay though whilst being in and out the United team has starred for Scotland recently

Seriously, why would we abandon an approach that has served us well over the years, the last two spectacularly?

Because we have a new coach who wants to spend big? Let's dress that up as European ambition whilst we have our fingers crossed.

As said numerous times my interpretation of that 'change up' process is improving the odds with more development buys in the £5-10m range. Not investing in guys that are clearly out of our league and can surely only be loans and would break our wage structure?

I get DD might want to 'get done' the trophy count thing as his legacy before he pops off but it doesn't bother me if that happens in 1,2, 5 or 10 years. Short-term Rangers winning a league or trophy doesn't bother me. It is inevitable. Spunking money on guys out our league would jeopardise that long-term thinking. The only thing that would change that is if there is structural change to the game coming that being seen to be in 'a level above' is to our advantage i.e. some invite to one Scottish representative.

The new format of the CL may be a motivation. With no drop off to Europa the need to field a competitive team to help maintain the top 10 league coefficient and not need to go through qualifiers could see Celtic think now is the time to splash

Spot on mate.

Ange built a side that was entertaining without going mental in transfer fees.

We shouldnt be going out and buying 2 15 million quid players to try and compete in europe, its an absurd expectation for us.

Group stage football, try and do our best but likely land where the seeding tells us we should be

Playing-wise I'd take both in a heartbeat, but money-wise they're WAY out of our league on both wages and permanent transfer. Total non-starter.

Wish we'd get the fecking finger out elsewhere though. As it stands it looks like we're going to be missing both CCV and AJ for the early stages of the campaign (our only 2 quality defenders, being brutally honest) ... and probably 2 of our 3 best goalscorers will be away as well (Jota gone already, and all the signs pointing to Abada being not far behind). Early in the window or not, we need to be getting active here, with trips to Pittodrie and Ibrox on matchdays 2 and 4.

We don't have the money to "compete" in Europe, and never will have while we get £2m a season from TV, so not sure what your point is Stevie?

I can think of a lot worse places to be.
Like down in the streets or down in the sewer.
Or even on the end of a skewer

Wasn't that long ago that your season was make or break depending on what happened in Europe....and we won't keep the Champions League place if all we are doing is going into the groups and getting skelped continually

You didn't even make it our your Europa League group stage last time you were in those groups either

Pretty sure you can "compete" better than that, and it would be in your own interests to do so

Love how suddenly Europe doesn't matter to you lot, seeing as it's the only competitions you are currently $hite in

Who said Europe doesn't matter? The cash is huge, but that's pretty much the end of it. We ain't winning anything in it. Grab the cash, try to help the coefficient as much as possible, and try to avoid absolute humpings. That's it. Yes, the stars might align and one of us might have a chance of reaching a lesser Euro final once a decade or more.

Hilarious.

You've won 2 trophies from the last 21. We're doing fine. Dominance in Scotland and sensible spending will result in improvement in Europe.
We'll soon be the World's Most Successful Football Club and then the sky's the limit.

Surely Europe only matters when it’s the league format?!

We all know that cups don’t matter. Pfft.
