I would be very surprised if United ended up being owned by the Qataris - said that at the beginning of this saga if you check my previous posts. I just can’t see it

Smoke and mirrors.

I wouldn't be totally surprised if the club has virtually secured new owners already and that there's an agreement not to announce it until we've made a few signings. I know we get rinsed anyway but selling clubs would surely sense even more money if they knew a new owners was in place.*

*I accept I could be well wide of the mark with that theory though as it suggests an element of planning!

No offence but bollox, how much do you want to bet that you’re still own led by the Glazers come September 1st?

Fully expect the glazers to be owners of United for the next 15-20 years

You're most probably right. Hence why I was at pains to state I "wouldn't be totally surprised" suggesting that it would be a surprise and that "I accept I could be well wide of the mark..."

I have said this so many times now it is getting ridiculous. If we don’t get the Qataris then Liverpool will. And when that happens they will be out of our reach for the foreseeable future.

I’m beginning to really believe this.

I don’t see any financial benefit to the Glazers in continuing to draw the sale out. And we already know very well the sole criterion on which they base their business decisions.

Be funny if Qatar brought spurs, then the Top 4 was forever made up of Spurs, City and Newcastle with the financially mortal fighting it out for 4th.

You’d soon see utd fans lambasting the fact they didn’t buy us.

Forgive my ignorance

There was talk early on in the process of possible stock market manipulation by the Glazers. Would that be the case if the sale didn't go through ?

They are not going to buy Spurs if Liverpool are still available.

I don’t know enough about US corporate law (to say the least), but I would guess that if the Glazers had been selling shares or trying to sell shares during the bidding process they could have ended up in trouble.

I haven’t read anything about them doing so, or attempting to do so though.

Old financial trick, spark rumours of a takeover and the share price will immediately go up.

Remind me who the major shareholders at United are.

I think it’s kinda cute that people still think the Glazers are selling the club

They would if they got offered the 6 billion they were asking for.

They are playing a game of chicken with the two bidders. It will backfire on them when they both pull out.

Share prices going up means nothing unless the shares get sold. And they can just as easily drop.

It’s the old ‘set an unrealistic price and say they tried their best when it all falls through’ routine.
