Decided not to go with a spinner. Nathan Lyon would have got in if he didn't get injured.

Crawley and Khawaja are obvious selections although Warner and Duckett did OK. Certainly better than last Ashes here when everyone was rubbish save for Burns.
No number 3s so you probably say Root at 3. Stokes at 5 and Bairstow keeping and at 6 as he averaged 40 and Carey only averaged 22.
Woakes, Starc, Cummins, Wood and Broad probably all get in.
It can't be 8 English men and 3 Aussies in a series that finished 2-2 though so I'll put Smith in at 4.
Let's all do an all time Ashes 11 from our respectable eras so players we've actually watched. Mine would be from 1997 onwards.
Mine would be:
Hayden
Cook
Ponting
Root
Steve Waugh
Stokes
Gilchrist
Warne
Broad
Anderson
McGrath
Gooch
Hayden
Ponting
Pietersen
Root
S Waugh
Gilchrist
Warne
Gough
McGrath

Labuschange is the only debatable one, but he's in for his Ashes-winning century, in tough conditions, which held England off long enough for rain to come and wash Bazball into the gutter.

9-2 Australia which sums up their dominance.

would like to have Gooch in there but didnt see him play
I was a bit biased with mine putting Root ahead of Smith. Another option could have been me dropping Stokes for Smith. Steve Waugh could be a 5th bowling option as he was a pretty useful bowler in the 90s, he seemed to stop bowling though in the 2000s
Can't believe I forgot Steve Waugh
Mitchell Johnson as well.
