Agreed OP, we MUST makea statement signing...But I believe it will be a possible up and coming one. Ange is reducing the age of the squad, as he is looking for young legs for his high intensity play.
I would love it if the club made a real statement signing but Levy will stick the money in his pocket for him and investors

We were in CL season before and Arsenal only this season have been in CL, after 6 years so what's your point?
I think we still need a striker, CB and PEH replacement if he goes. I just don’t know how willing Levy will be to spend £££
Let’s say Eze and Orban cost close to £80m. We’d then need to sign a cheep CB which is not what the squad needs.
What is priority and how much do we spend

In response to Vlad, whilst on paper we’ve spent £170m, we all know it’s £105m. With outgoings we’re actually net +£5m profit 😂
Levy loves fiddling the figures. just like last summer when we made Romero permanent for £50m which came out of our summer spend yet everyone counted it the summer before also.
Effectively we don’t spend money in Jan as they’re always loans, we just pay for them in the summer, reducing our summer spend. To other fans it looks like we spend big in both windows when in reality we don’t.
Eze, Tapsoba and Orban Cookie Collective please and we can kinda say we've done enough this window.

Plus I would add to go fa ck himself too. Total khant has priced my family out of our trips to spurs with a needless immoral twenty percent increase on our tickets
I totally dispise the little bean counting khant.
“He was very professional about it and I tried to treat him with the respect that someone of his standing deserved. He sent me a message (this week) and I sent him a message back. I don’t think either of us were surprised by the outcome. You do due diligence when you take a job and hopefully I was well researched enough to know what was going on in the background. You have these conversations with people and it was in the public arena.
“When a player of Harry’s stature is going into the last year of his contract, you don’t need too much investigative research to know what’s going on. I knew going into it that this was the most likely outcome.”
No further signings are expected before Sunday’s Premier League opener at Brentford, but Postecoglou expects Tottenham to remain active during the final three weeks of the transfer window to help ease the pain of Kane’s exit. “I guess the finality of it all today kind of hits everyone and everyone is going, ‘what next? What next?’ But this is not new for me,” continued Postecoglou. “This is five or six weeks of knowing it was going to happen. We have been contemplating that anyway in the way that we have been going about things. So, nothing really changes there.
“There is sometimes that element where people suppress themselves to an extent because they understand that there is a unique individual in the room that has such great presence and is such a force on and off the field. With all these things there’s opportunity. What you’ve got to try to do is what the great clubs do, the great organisations: replace greatness with greatness. How that comes about is not easy, but that’s what the big clubs do. They find a way to sustain and maintain and grow even when the greatest leave their doors.”
Postecoglou is in no doubt Kane’s legacy at Spurs will last the test of time and, even though he is not aware of Tottenham holding any buy-back clause, he knows Kane will always be welcome at his boyhood club. “He’ll definitely be back at Tottenham one day in one capacity or another,” the ex-Celtic boss added. “When you have a career like he has at one football club, you’re never not part of it.”

Let’s not lose track here.. we still have a relatively low net spend, even with that bald tw@ adding an extra £70m on players we signed 18 months ago.
There is still hope. I just hope that he realises what needs to be done and does it

That last bit is like an oxymoron. There is still "hope" in Levy realising what needs to be done?
Let’s not think about net spend
We are one of the most valuable and profitable sports teams in the world and have just sold our biggest asset for big money
2 of the bigger signings were delayed loan players as well
We should be at minimum spending big on another CB
Sadly i don't think there will be any more business. The club is gonna take a big financial hit on NDombele and i don't think the likes of Sanchez & Tanganga aren't gonna generate much.
I guess selling PEH might generate 30mln which would start to put us back towards a flat net spend
Ideally Orban (to provide competition to Richie ) and and another quality CB ( Tapsoba) would be ideal but i just don't see it
I fear this is gonna long hard season. Just looking at the way transfer fees are going is gonna leave Spurs behind... it's starting to look like Enic just don't have the stomach for this industry anymore.
I think a good start is gonna be key but i can't imagine the atmosphere around the team is that great post Kane's departure, regardless of how upbeat Ange is
I think a top half finish would be a decent achievement for a team that really doesn't spend, has a rookie manager and has just lost its best player
At what point do we start to ask Enic when we are gonna see the benefits of having this stadium actually improving the team.... loan to buy options and pushing payments for new players to the following years isn't the behavior of a big club
But Phenom… it’s Levy. I’m trying to realistic. The books will need to be balanced so I can’t see us spending more than £100m including player sales.
Unfortunately diamond, we do soend money. It’s just spent badly and Levy / Enic keep making bad decision after bad decision on managers, sporting directors, players etc.
If we can settle on a manager, philosophy, plan and style then in the medium term I can see us doing very well. It’s just a big if and I have no confidence in levy
Last year our net spend was around £120m without the CL money.
So I would expect a similar net spend this window plus £40m from the CL from last season.
Last season's net spend includes one sale of Bergwijn. We need more sales if we want to spend more.

A word of caution for Orban, Vincent Janssen finished above him for top scorer last season in the Belgian league.
Not saying that doesn't mean he wouldn't be quality, as he did have a much better goal ratio. In fact his goal ratio is far better than any of the others in the top 10 goal scorers last season, barring one other guy. But if Janssen is one of the top goal scorers you know how weak the league is.
I just don’t see where a striker statement signing comes from. Realistically, who is available that is the quality we’d want (that felt like a genuine Kane replacement) who would choose Tottenham (no European football) right now? I can’t think of a single player.
Surely it’s gonna be Richie or Son up top. Both of whom I think will have good seasons. Maybe next summer if we have a very good season - then we can start to think about replacing him.
