Outlandish football conspiracies/rumours

The Premier League built up Manchester United as a dreamy super club to use as a vehicle to grow the Premier League. It led to decades of ridiculous officiating and Manchester United winning every other league titles. Close to the end of his career Howard Webb had awarded 18% of his penalties to Manchester United. They went 10 years without conceding a penalty at Old Trafford . Goals would be overruled having crossed the line by a yard. etc etc.

Some conspiracy theories are clearly true and are only disputed because no one can ever find the hard evidence.

City control the officials now by greasing palms. We've seen central refs overrule their own linesman on an offside call and award a goal to City when the linesman was right and it was at least a yard offside.

Do Liverpool fans still perpetuate the myth that no one has ever dribbled past VVD?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He rarely gets dribbled and went years without getting dribbled past. When it finally happened (think it was Arsenal's Pepe that dribbled past him a couple or so years back) it was plastered all over the front pages for days and articles were made on here. Your memory is shoiite.

Sir Alan forced the league off of free-to-view for his own personal gains and to make Spurs the biggest team by influencing the decision to give games to BSkyB, only to get facked over and Spurs to struggle for 2 decades.

Mike Riley was promised a cushy job if he ended the Arsenal unbeaten run as it was making the PL look bad

Transfer fees are not paid, they are just made up for the books - Brewster from Liverpool to Sheffield United being an obvious one.

Sky fix seasons and use commentators and pundits to push false narratives and agendas to allow this to happen.

VAR was bought in to make fixing matches to be easier.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't see how VAR makes fixing matches easier tbh. Makes it harder and that's why they resisted VAR and have implemented it badly, not by choice but inviting in an attempt to maintain the pre VAR status quo as much as possible. That's why VAR is such a mess IMO, trying to have it in football but still trying to keep things the same as much as possible.

Could you be kind enough as to expound on that?

Remember one doing the rounds in the early 00's about SAF giving a lucrative construction/landscaping contract to a family member of one of the PL referees at the time in return for favourable treatment...

People claim players are digitally moved when doing offside, lines are false or "wonky".

Aaah. But that doesn't make it easier than having no VAR. Makes it harder and more complex to do.

They have skewed the lines on TV to favour a particular team , I've seen it with my own eyes.

I saw one the other day that said if the Premier League started in 1982 that Notting Forest - wearing red - would now be the biggest club in world football

Many, many years ago a Man United footballing legend called Denis once scored a goal against his former club whilst playing for Man City, which actually relegated United down to Division 2.

Cheating usually only gets caught well after you have actually won something through cheating. You can have a decade of success and then maybe get punished with a points deduction and maybe a relegation much later on. Weighing up the costs and benefits, cheating is very attractive.

Also from a fans' point of view they don't want to be acknowledging that 10 years of football have been a lie and should be voided so you can play on fans' emotions.

Yes Man City are cheating, but football has to go on in the meantime. This is a tactic a lot of clubs could use as it is worth it for them.

Damn you - I was thinking old Rangers until the last para

New Rangers hold two penalty world records.

4 (Gerrard says should have been 5) pens awarded in the one match by Rangers fan ref Dallas.

Longest league run of matches without having a penalty awarded against - fck knows what it is now - 3 years or something - and guess what - Rangers fan ref Dallas is full time on VAR.

These aint conspiracies TBF, they're fact!

Playing out from the back is a PFA backed/enforced/encouraged style of play to reduce heading and the subsequent injuries that are resulted from them including alzheimers. Headers and clashes of heads are drastically reduced from goal kicks as most sides play out from the back in the top league. The high risk low reward nature of this style of play results in more goals conceded from it than scored from it. Headers are banned in some countries at certain age group, and whilst you cannot completely eliminate heading from football, playing out from the back does reduce it by a particular chunk.
